My wife has to go to New York for a few days for a funeral, and we haven't been there since becoming vegan, so I was hoping some of you could recommend places in or near Long Island and Brooklyn. Manhattan is helpful, too, but is not quite as convenient.

Thanks!!!!!!

Hmmmm, I'm out in Suffolk County......and I do most of my shopping online anyway, but I know Moo Shoes is in NYC..................there was a great Vegan place I heard about a while ago I was going to check out the next time I went in to the city.......it's been a while............the last time I went in I ate at a friend's house.....so that won't help you. I'll look for the name of the place in the city.

kates joint (ave a) teany (off houston st) angelika kitchen are a few, but vegan food can be found all over the city... falafel stands are all over the place... food bars are usually good sources... most restaurants understand "lactose intolerant vegetarian who does not eat eggs" if all else fails, if you are truly in doubt, stick with luna bars fruit and soymilk. sorry to hear about the funeral...

She probably won't be able to do Manhattan. She ended up getting a few veggie items at a regular grocery store. I'm glad so many grocery stores in major cities have at list a small veggie section. She's going to stay in to do a stir fry with LightLife Chik'n strips and veggies tomorrow night.

Thanks for the suggestions.

And thanks for the kind words, Melanda.
