I picked up a doohicky to make nice, uniform, attractive patties for bean burgers and such. Which it does, but they're bigger than I expected. How does everyone make patties that are uniform size, attractive, and so on?

Figured I'd ask before buying a new doohicky.

I put the burgers between 2 pieces of wax paper and use a rolling pin to get them to an even height. To get an even shape I cut them out using a big tomato can with both the top and bottom of the can cut out. I press down on the burger and that does a 4" circle.

I have one of them too, and I don't like how big and wide it makes them. I just start out with cupped-hand sized balls till they are all about the same size, adding or taking away some till they are the same. then I flatten them with my hands, pushing in the sides firmly, rounding them. It works for me. sorry I ever spent the couple of bucks on the burger shaper
