This is partly related - but they are doing a production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe here in Aust. On stage. I saw it in Canberra at the beginning of the year and I'm going again in sydney. It was unbelievable!

http://www.malcolmcooke.com/lionwitc...e=creative.htm

The lion is so real its amazing - his head even skaes when he roars. And all the characters other than the humans/witch are puppets.

Not bad. I remember reading all the narnia books about 10 years ago.

And I found the horse and his boy to be confusing. What did it have to do with the other books?

Yes, and they still show it on PBS once and awhile. It was pretty low budget. I'm assuming that since LotT and Harry Potter are doing so well that they'll make this a very high budget amazing movie!

I took it to be just another story set in the same world. It was barely connected to the other characters. It was actually one of my favorites, though.

Absolutely! That TV series was great. I only ended up reading a couple of the books. I wonder what all these authors think of having their books made into movies after they're dead.

(C.S. Lewis *is* dead, right?)

YAY!!! I still have the book collection my mom bought me for my 9th birthday many years ago. They were my favorite books growing up, along with LOTR. I think my favorite of the 7 was "The Magicians Nephew".

Boomp!!!

Just saw the trailer for LWW on AOL. Looks good! Anybody else planning to see it? It premieres December 9th.

Unfortunately, I don't remember a whole lot about the books, since I last read them 25 years ago. At least the movie will refresh some of my memory.

The trailer looks amazing. I absolutely cannot wait! Between HP & GOF and the first (of hopefully many high quality) Narnia movies, it's going to be a good winter! ^________^

I've read the Chronicles a slew of times and I still love them. Not sure if I could pick a favorite. I hope that if they do a CG version of Aslan that he looks good on the film. Aslan rocks!

Here's a couple of pages culled from a centaur list I'm on, so the artwork and such may at first be on the centaur aspect of it (go figure )

conceptual art (then just surf their page from there...)

and a .mov file on the making of it (26meg d/l)

Behind the Magic

some sfx

Thanks to that list, I have known about this movie project for a few months, but I am still looking forward to it even moreso than StarWars

Have you watched it recently? If not DON'T! I rewatched The Lion the Witch and the Wradrobe a couple of months ago and it took away some of my favourite childhood memories It was nothing like I remembered it

If the first one does well at the box office, I think they will most certainly make additional movies. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will remain faithful to the canon set forth in the books. Hopefully, because the books aren't very long, they won't have to make a lot of cuts for time/length.

I'm very, very apprehensive about this. Those books were such a HUGE part of my childhood, and I'm scared about having them ruined.

On the other hand, maybe it'll be great!

I can't believe I forgot about this..I was SO excited when I saw this preview last night. I thought it looked fantastic. They capture the frozen forest well, Aslan is a real (not cartoonish) lion, etc.

There are tentative plans to make all 7 books into films, so I too hope they do well.

<<<has read The Chronicles more times that I can remember. There's no book/set of books I loved more as a child.

I'm curious to see if they will make the films in chronological order, or in the order in which they were published?

And..I wonder how long it will take to make them. I can remember hearing rumors of a draft of a script/director search for this film as far back as at least 1999.

Ah, Narnia..how I love thee.
