These are raw vegan fruit & nut bars available in UK shops. I saw them in tesco yesterday and I had never seen anything like them in the UK so even though I'm not a raw foodist I decided to try them. They come in 3 flavours - Apple Pie, Coco Loco and something about berries. I bought one Coco Loco one and one Apple Pie one, so I haven't tried the berry one yet.

The packaging is very cute, with a bee on, and they also grabbed me with all those buzzwords that I fall for when shopping - "all natural raw vegan no added sugar gleefully made in the uk" they say, along with "100% natural wholefood". The Coco Loco one tastes of cake mix kinda, but not in a great way. One one hand, if I was a 100% raw foodist who craved chocolate I might buy it and it might settle the craving. On the other hand, I eat cooked food and I would much rather eat dark chocolate/rice milk chocolate.

The apple pie one is pretty good though. It tastes appley and cinnamony and it has nuts to give it a bit of substance. I looked up the company (www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk) and their other products definitely look interesting and I will give them a try if I see them.

I bought one of these at Tescos and fell in love. I bought a case of them at my local HFS (you get a 10% discount for ordering in bulk). First we had the coco loco but nowwe have the apple pie. We love them. We're not raw, but they are better than other bar type things I find which annoyingly always seem to have whey in them. The coco loco one tastes like a brownie to me. or cookie dough. mmmmm....

I give them 2 thumbs up.

PS I fell for all the friendly logo stuff as well. My favourite bit was Best Before: (your friend eats it.)

I tried a couple of raw food bars from Mrs Greens and liked them much better than the lara/luna bars. Unfortunately, I can't say what brand they are as I don't remember, but I plan on getting more when I go to Mrs. Greens again.
