for some reason, I can't post if I use the title "it is that time again." Hmm.

The time when my monthly income has run out, but landlord is demanding money, and threatening to evict me.

I now share an apartment with a vegoid (he eats chicken and fish, lots of fish). He owns the apartment. I am really lucky to find a vegoid. And he cleans up his pots and dishes promptly. But my income is 840 per month incl food stamps, and the rent alone is 625 per month. Plus I have to pay half of the electric, all of my phone, half of the sewer bill, and 1/2 of the DSL bill, plus 1/2 of the annual heat surcharge (most of heat is included in the 625, but not the fuel surcharge).

So I can use all the help I can get to avoid eviction.

I still do not have my teeth fixed and they still hurt.

I am working with a state employment rehabilitation agency, but have not found employment yet. They think they can find me something by December. But if I get thrown out before then, all the effort I have put into filling out forms for them, will be wasted.

Because I have atypical facial pain, I cannot wear a removable dental appliance. any small irritation anywhere in my head triggers huge attacks. But Medicaid will not pay for permanent dental restorations. So I have to come up with the money. I found a dental school (after years of searching) that will do the work for 1/2 price -- but 1/2 of a lot is still a lot.

I cannot afford to take a taxi back from the nearest grocery store, about $15 to $20 per trip, so I am making multiple trips by bus at $1.50 each to save about $30 per month. (8 bus trips instead of 3 taxi trips). But if my large backpack wears out, I am stuck, as I can't afford a new one.

Help!

http://shakahara.com/tomatosoup.php

soilman, I must say that I find it a bit troublesome that you are using funds from the "help animals" site, for these purposes.

I don't doubt that you have financial need, but the text on the site is clearly then, misleading someone who hasn't read the post above.

My expenses for the help animals site are $129 per year for the site and for domain name registration. So far, no year, ever, have I gotten donations equaling more than $50. So I am using my own funds for most of the cost of the site. Plus the computer that I use to make the site is worth several hundred dollars, and most of what I use the computer for, besides talking on veggieboards, is web-site development related, specifically for that site. While some of my computer equip is donated, some I had to pay cash for, plus I have to pay for the electricity and for occasional parts that need to be replaced.

Plus I deserve to be paid for all the time and effort I put into making the site, don't I? There is nothing wrong for asking for money for a salary as well as expenses, but the fact is, I don't even have my expenses covered. However I feel the work is too important to just drop the site, no matter how low my income is.

I have to live. If I don't have food, or if my teeth hurt, or I have nowhere to live, I can't keep up the site.

and a free site supported by ads will not do. They are notoriously unreliable, plus they can advertise animal products.

If you think I am making an underserved "profit" by using funds for the site for things beyond the cost of the site, and that I don't desrve a salary, only repayment of my costs, then perhaps you might like to send the monthly $10 directly to the web hosting company?

If you want, I can show exactly how much I took in this year. It was $50, via either my donations page or veggieboards.

Of course, all this could simply be avoided by adding a donations button to another page, instead of directing it to my eoMeo page, couldn't it? So that is what I am going to do.

If you want to donate money to eoMeo, with the understanding that any money beyond expense, will go toward paying me a salary, which I assure you will not only be less than min wage, but less than $1.00 per hour, to to the eoMeo link. If you want to donate for some other reason, go to http://shakahara.com/pianopitch2.php

You could file for section 8 housing. I sympothese sp?...my life also sucks and I feel like just as ai was working towards experiencing a small amount of career sucess, it was all taken away again.

I would drop the expensive computer for starts. I mean I could say I need a high tech powermac with good graphics and design programs for my art c areer and then get evicted but what good would that do?...Sometimes you haveto do without what you need in order to just survive.

I did file for section 8 housing. I suppose I could try again and see what happens. Last time they told me there was no more section 8 in my area and I could not expect to get any help from them. I am not sure exactly what they said but basicaly it was that there was no way they could expect to get any help with living cost from them, any time in the forseable future. I think I filled out some forms anyway.

Sometimes you have done every last thing you can think of to help yourself, and you have to ask other people for help. I really don't know what else to do. I am hoping it is just temporary as I the vocational help agency says they think they can find me work by Dec.

I would love to do web site development work.

I found a site where I can bid on jobs but I am really confused by it. If anyone wants to pm me about helping me figure out how the bidding process works, I'll give them the address, and the info.

I'm confused, what link should I click to help?

Just click the donate button, on either page. You can use paypal or a credit card. If you want I can include a note.

I am going to start an Excel spreadsheet, and put a link to it on the eoMeo site, showing eoMeo related expenses, income from donations, how much is left over for my living expenses, if anything. I may try to estimate how many hours I put into the site, but that is not going to be easy.

Oh okay! I will send a few dollars your way. I am sorry that it's all I can spare. I hope things work out for you.

Thanks veggiejanie.

I don't want anyone who feels pinched for funds, to feel they ought to send me anything. I believe there are enough people who are doing very well economically, and can afford a contribution.

I would also like ideas on marketing veg products from home.I might like to buy a bunch in bulk, then sell the stuff on the net. Start simple, with one natural food. This is the most natural least refined form of cane sugar I have ever seen, except for cut pieces of sugar cane. But I haven't seen it sold in natural food stores or on the net, so I think there is a niche there. I can also use web marketing tips from any of you with web sites that you use to sell things. I have seen that some of you sell things like homemade soap and homemade clothing.

Your ideas sound great but there's so many complications when selling food. I tried to go on that and ended up needing a commercial kitchen, inspections etc etc. I was like Wha....if I had all these things, I wouldn't need to be selling.

Eclipse, I don't think you need any gov oversight if you are selling simple agricultural products, or selling prepared food made by someone else, where all the gov oversight was done there. My idea is just to start with one simple product. Not make anything, just buy in bulk and resell.

If anyone wants to buy Piloncillo, I can sell you a single 11 oz cone for $2.00 plus the exact cost of shipping. They are selling it here for $3.25 per 11 oz quantity, plus shipping (which at $7.87 for UPS ground from CA seems like a lot. Does it really cost that much to ship 2 pounds of shipping weight? I am going to check at ups's site). Ouch. UPS says $9.95

For a 2 pound package, I suggest checking USPS ( www.usps.com ) rates. I use them for 1-2 pound Priority Mail packages all the time. Should cost around $6 and they will provide the box and packing tape. UPS is better for heavier packages though.

Your half of the rent is $625, or that's the total rent you split?

If you don't need much space, maybe you could save money by moving to a little studio apartment within walking distance to a grocery? That'd save on rent, transportation costs to get groceries, smaller living quarters means smaller energy bills, etc.

Michael, you mean the filename, helpanimals.html? I chose that name not for its meaning, since it is merely a filename, not a title, but simply as a reminder, when I saw the file in my directory. I suppose I could change it. I usually keep filenames brief. The title of the page is "Help Get the Word Out." I didn't intend for the file name to have any meaning. I chose it just as a reminder of what the file is about, not as a precise description. I figured most people don't even know the name of the files, they just bookmark pages. If you tried to bookmark it, the default selection would be "Help Get the Word Out." I could just as easily have chosen file35.html, but I wanted a name that, when I saw it in my directory, would give me a clue to what it was about, remind me, but without being as large as it would have to be to tell me exactly what it was about.

For example the filename for my Index to Materials is not index_to_materials.html, it is mindex.html. http://shakahara.com/mindex.html

Or did you mean something else?

You can't assume that would cost less. Living alone generally costs more for one thing.

For one thing, I think Soilman is located in CA, where living costs are generally higher then the rest of the country..So $625 may be the best deal around there.

Otherwise I was going to suggest that, but I'm in VT where rent costs less.
