Today I visited a vegan nutritionist as I have been putting on a bit of weight, I feel gross and I don't have a lot of energy.

We had a big discussion about what I eat and she decided I eat way too much grains, beans and processed food and recommened a raw vegan diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables - no grains allowed!

Any tips and ideas???

I feel a bit... weird! But excited at the same time!

What website is the best for raw recipes?

hey, jessikah! i have a bunch of raw sites saved. hopefully you'll be able to get some ideas, tips, recipes and whatnot from them.

http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/index.php this is one of the most popular ones.

http://www.thegardendiet.com/ there's a forum on there, but it's not as active.

one of my main tips is to always have raw food around so you won't be tempted to eat something cooked. if you have a dehydrator, things like crackers keep for a while and are good to snack on. if you don't have a dehydrator, a simple blender and/or food processor is great! i love my blender because i make smoothies all the time. they are filling and are a great way to get lots of fruit and leafy greens in.

hopefully some of the links will help you out. i'll look around for more.

Wow Jenna, thanks a bunch!!!

I'm going to really try this for the first 2 weeks, she believes I will really feel a difference. After that I might add a a few beans to my salads as I love beans!!!

I just wanted to send my best wishes. I think she took all the links I could have given. ^_^

Oh, except for http://www.fromsadtoraw.com.

Under her Main Courses/Entrees section she has a recipe up called Crab Delight. Freaking awesome! I LOVE that stuff! Definitely try it. It tastes like a mock tuna salad and it is so friggin' delicious.

http://freshtopia.net Just came up on this one recently. It's mostly vlog (video blog) stuff. Has some neat recipes on it, as well as dealing with environmental, sustainability stuff. But thought the recipes may be helpful. I haven't seen some of them before.

Lucky you...that could even find someone who know s about nutrition. Asking for nutrition advice around here gets you a dumb stare or whatever advice is most conventional.

Although my (omni) N didn't force meat or dairy on me, I know many people who have been treated downright rudely by their's. You are very lucky- and enjoy the treat you are about to give your body

I love this site as well. I actually made the raw "bacon" once at a raw food restaurant and everyone loved it and made raw bacon cheese burgers(except me - it was too spicey for me).

Just so you know, the sunfood site has a lot of people who are not vegan and eat raw meat, dairy and eggs.
