I have a friend who went vegan because of me, a texan friend went from omni to vegan overnight!!! I never thought this would happen because I never pushed it but only answered his questions as he asked them!!!! It's amazing what can happen when you do not preach or push the topic!

That's great that you inspired them! Well done! Pass on a big congratulatory thumbs-up from me to your friend as well for making the switch!

Well done Carley!

What you need to do now is invite them over for a vegan dinner you can both eat.

Are they in Australia (or are you in the US), or was it long distance that you influenced them?

Different things work for different people at different times. Years before I was veg*n I had a best friend who was vegetarian. I knew it, but the topic truly never came up to discuss. I wish she had confronted me or brought it up in some way to me - because I would have become vegan then. I've never been defensive about animal issues, but I really didn't know a thing about how animals were treated or have consciousness about animal issues beyond rescue - this was before the internet though, so information and news about this was much harder to get, and also before the boom in animal rights groups and activism and vegan products - it's a different world now.

As many as 2000 over 50 years, actually.

If they stay vegan.

I had a friend I convinced to go vegetarian last year but she's since back slid. It happens to a lot of people. Don't get your hopes up too much.
