...So what do you do when you have only been eating vegan for a couple of weeks and you are at a work happy hour function where everyone is pigging out on fried mushrooms filled with cream cheese and nachos covered in cheese and potatoe skins smothered in cheese...and where there is absolutely not a speck of vegan food in sight?

...well if you are me you enjoy your wine and then go home and pig out on fried mushrooms that are not stuffed with cheese and a big baked potatoe covered in vegan cheese and veggies.

This happened to me today. And although this may have been the least balanced dinner I have had since becoming vegan, and I ate way too much, I still consider this a victory. I did not give in and eat the icky food. I went a little hungry, but stick to my decision and then had a great dinner.

..and this was my first try of vegan cheese. Verdict: pretty good on a loaded potatoe.

That's awesome that you stuck to your convictions and didn't let the co-workers badger you into eating something tainted with cruelty.

Hope you didn't have to drive drunk b/c of this. I usually keep a stash of Luna Bars or some kind of vegan snack at work. Just in case.

Also bonus that you liked your vegan cheese. For the most part that is how I feel about Tofutti cheeses. They are really good melted on something... like Italian food, potatoes, bread, etc.. I have actually started to enjoy eating Galaxy Nutritional Foods Vegan slices by themselves.

VERY impressive!

I always have to work harder on my veganism at affairs like that.

Yay!
That's awesome. What kind of vegan cheese did you get?

Kind of off-topic:

I love those! I just had my first one today.
All of them are vegan, right?

I just took a look at the package, but I am not really sure what brand they are. They are individually wrapped american-style singles with "vegan" written in large print across the package. In small print it says Galaxy foods.

It was good on a loaded baked potatoe and good on a sandwhich, but only so-so by itself.
