I figured I would stop thinking and talking about it and actually do it. So I set the date to start today, I had a friend in from out of town and figured I would wait till after she left. So I get woke up to my boss calling me saying I have to go in to work, when it was suppose to be a day off. So I woke up and made a fruit-green smoothie. I wanted to start on my day off, just for less stress. Well, I made it through work and really wasn't that hungry or having many cravings during work. When I got home, I made an awesome salad with a homemade black berry vinaigrette. I am probably going to get hungry before bed though, so I'm scared on what I will eat. I need to find a good raw hummus recipe or something for a snack.

I should add, my main goal of this is to lose weight and detox. I'm not sure I will be 100% forever, but I figured I would give it a shot.

Did you ever find a good raw hummus? If not, you might like this one. I've had it before and thought it was good.

http://www.alissacohen.com/news/2010...hummus-recipe/

I guess it depends how bad you want the final product to be 100% raw. You can certainly use non-raw tahini and it would taste good, but the hummus wouldn't be totally raw.

Well, I didn't see any at the co-op I go to, so I might have to live with non-raw or else order some. Thanks

I just started making raw hummus with no beans and no expensive tahini to buy.

I use sesame seeds, which are cheap from the food co-op bulk bins. And then peeled zucchini. Add some coconut oil, lemon juice and seasonings. I've served that to groups of people that are not even vegetarians, let alone raw, and they couldn't believe it had no garbanzo beans. This is super easy, healthy and great tasting!

Cool, the problem is I only have a blender and not a good one. :/ That is one think I'm lacking, food processor and good blender. I have a dehydrator, but it doesn't have a temp setting on it so I will have to find out how hot it runs. I'm kind of working with limited resources.

I'm actually finding this really hard. I am craving comfort food so badly. I know that is one benefit of the diet, to kill those cravings, but it is kind of mentally messing with me. I also am getting invited to go out with friends to go to restaurants and to go to bars and I can't. Well I could, but I couldn't eat/drink and the people would probably feel awkward or offended. Sorry for ranting. On a positive note, I feel good physically and I have dropped weight already. I did buy a couple Larabar, which helped a little. I also made some collard green wraps last night that were pretty good.

Can you give approximate measurements? I'd like to try that one.

Sounds like a good first raw day. Congrats.
Don't get too hung up over what you're going to eat. If you say you are doing this for weight loss and detox then remember you're accomplishing your goal even if you get stuck at one time and eat something cooked. Raw food will always be there for your health, eating cooked food doesn't get you out of the club, haha.

I like the idea of zucchini for hummus, though I put some thought into raw hummus recently and I figured I'd make it with fresh garbanzos or just sprouting garbanzos.
