and how others look at vegetarians. I totally despise how the Vegetarian community tries to 'fake' the Omnivore's lifestyle!
Soy and other additives that simply mimic the read deal, pisses me off! Vegetarians don't eat a burger, so WHY do some of us TRY so hard to mimic a burger using gawd awful stuff like Soy?
I'm just happy with salads, and no I'm not going to try tofu.
I also don't like supporting giant corporations, soy is a highly profitable for some of the the world's largest multinational agribusinesses. Cargill, Archer Daniels Midland and Solae (a joint venture of DuPont and Bunge). In the past decade, the market for soy has exploded, and soy is now being incorporated into a variety of processed foods, and included in various nutritional supplements.
There is abundant evidence that some of the isoflavones found in soy, demonstrate toxicity in estrogen sensitive tissues and in the thyroid. This can be expected to generate thyroid abnormalities, including goiter and autoimmune thyroiditis. There exists a significant body of data that demonstrates goitrogenic and even carcinogenic effects of soy products on us.
A Vegetarian diet should be simple, and a simple diet is healthier for us rather than some highly processed 'thing' we call food.
