I know what you mean. You want muscle definition, right? Try yoga, it is great for building long, lean muscles

you can't build long muscles, besides, being lean is all about the fat loss anyway, not the type of exercise.

Ok, I'll go tell my sister that what she learned in her 4 years at university studying exercise science is wrong.

Sorry dear, I think her degree trumps your two articles on "toning"...which wasn't even what I was talking about.

Sorry, but due to the crap I've heard from various PT and "educated" persons, I ain't gonna believe it until I hears some logical reasonings.

Here is some of the text which goes into "length".

Quote:

Here’s the first half of the truth: Muscles are fixed at all ends by tendons and bone. They do not magically assume different shapes in response to different rep schemes. Sets of 2-3 reps do not produce the shape of a teapot while 10-12 reps produce the shape of a lampshade.

Quote:

Maybe we’re dealing with semantics here, but I’m thinking the “length” of a muscle is not going to change anymore than the skeletal structure it’s attached to. Perhaps the increase in flexibility from yoga training causes people to use the term “long” to describe their muscles. Whether it’s poor terminology or marketing hype, yoga will not make your muscles long.

http://getfitbuffalo.com/blog/blog1....myths-revealed

and "toning" is the same thing as muscle definition, which you attributed to yoga rather than bf loss.

It's winter? Where do you live? You should pick up skiing or snowboarding. Lots of fun and pretty good exercise

The posts in this thread are amusing. I understand what you are trying to acheive Kasandra, I too am trying to do the same thing but I lack motivation. In my list of 'things to do' I challenge myself to cycle for thirty minutes a day for a month and check for any body improvements and continue. That still hasn't happened, LOL! I have an indoor cycling machine, they shouldn't be too expensive nowadays and I find it practical especially because of the weather.

Now to actually DO the challenge and use the damn bicycle for more than a cloth hanger! Ha!
