fahrenheit 9/11 - there are two scenes in there that make me bawl.
friday night lights - a scene where one of the players is talking to his grandfather after learning he won't ever be able to play ball again. he was counting on that to be his future.
When I was a kid, I cried at the end of Drop Dead Fred....
OH! and the part in Never Ending Story where Artex gets stuck in the quicksand and doesn't look like he'll make it...
I'm not one for watching "moving" movies, and even when I do they usually have little to no effect on me. But, Watership Down can usually get me to tear up. The book did, too, but especially the scene in the movie where Fiver discovers Hazel "dead"... and when Bigwig gets snared. Of course, the ending, too.
I never cry during movies. Well, I did during Life Is Beautiful, but that's because I laughed so hard I cried during the scene the father is "translating" for the guard.
Contact - It always fills me with an unusual mix of wonder and longing. This is my favorite Jodie Foster movie.
Brazil - It's such a sad and frightening movie
Mary Poppins - I love this movie, it thrills and delights me. I also find the "Feed The Birds" segment very moving even though I am not at all religious
2001: A Space Odyssey - Another movie that fills me with wonder
American Beauty - Another profoundly sad movie for me executed to near perfection.
I totally forgot about that one. It's more of a documentary, so that's why I didn't think of it. I've seen several documentaries of that situation. Some are gloomier than others, just like the people involved.
