So since I found out these are vegan I'm planning on getting a bag next time I go to the market, but I was wondering what everyone else thinks of them and what they do with them. Do you substitute them in omni recipes, add them to already veg*n recipes like a stir fry or something, or do you just make new recipes with them, or maybe put them in sandwiches somehow or something (maybe chicken salad by mixing with mayo or veganiaise)?

Also, do you think it'd be easy for me to substitute these in flautas(basically taquitos with chicken and flour tortillas instead of beef and corn tortillas)? My mom makes either taquitos or floutas every week so I'd like to make my own version so we can all eat the same meal and sides together (the sides are vegan, usually some orange rice, tortillas with butter, but I use earth balance on mine, corn, and I heat up leftover vegan refried beans since theirs have pig), I think food can really bring people together, even if one plate has fake chik'n instead of the real thing

I love these. I cook them until they are crispy on the outside and use them in rice/veggie dishes and sometimes salads.

I think these would work fine for flautas, although Ive never had them so I am guessing. You may want to try them first before using in a recipe. The inside usually stays a little soft/chewy even though the outside may be crispy. Some people don't like that type of texture and it did take some getting used too. But now I love them and I usually eat half of them out of the pan before they even reach the plate.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. And I really didn't like chicken much but I love all the fake chik'n that I have tried so I'm hoping I will like this, too. Before doing something that may use it as a key part of a dish, like flautas, I'll probably just cook some pasta or rice or something and that way if I like it I can easily eat it with the dish or mix it in, and if not I still have a meal.

My sons grew up liking the chik'n type patties more than the animal ones!
I buy Gardein seven grain nuggets, lightly frying in a cast iron skillet. Love them in salads, or with hot sauce, and cucumber yogurt dressing to dip!

I've heard gardein is good, I haven't gotten any yet but I've seen them at a store that's a little farther away. I'll have to try those sometime, too

I am going to get all of these goodies next time I go to the store, we have a freezer full of stuff already so when we fill up I am going to sample things again. I am slowly getting into Veg meals as its going to get cooler out, I am feeling better about my decision now and Its not for long until I am fully veg.

The worst part about trying different vegan products is the money you waste when it turns out you don't like something.
I spent a small fortune on Gardein products and I didn't like any of them. My mistake was buying five different varieties in the produce section. I should have tried just one first and I would have realized it was a texture thing and that I probably wouldn't like any of the others. But no...as usual, I had to go out with a bang, lol.

Don't base your decision to try/not try it based on my experience, though...you might like it. Just make sure you only buy one!

The frozen Gardein products are much better than the ones in the produce section IMHO. I like almost every one of the frozen products. As for the Morningstar Farms strips, they are good for lots of things; I have made stir fry and chickn salad with them though I do prefer the Gardein products. In my store the Gardein products are $3.99 a bag which serves me several meals so I don't think it is that bad. Four burgers for $3.99 is a pretty good deal to me!

i have to admit, I *really* didn't like the chickn cutlets from Gardein in the produce section. bought some for my T-Day dinner last yr,and had to choke the patty down, so no one else would say "see?????". maybe some of their other stuff is better, but I've never tried anything else from them since.

I'll probably try it eventually, when I can find t again and if it's on sale. It looks good, I just don't want to pay the prices that hey had at the only store I've seen it at in my city, Fresh and Easy.

I only am allowed three vegan products to try each trip. So if I don't like it no biggie, this is why its taking me so long to convert because I am still learning.

I love the Morningstar Chik'n Strips and just bought 2 bags for $1.50 each (with coupons). I usually use them in stir fries, salads, curries, or bake them in "wing sauce". I really like the Gardein products too that I've tried. I actually like the "meat like" texture. I couldn't wait to try the beefless tips after everyone raved about them and they were right! These things are amazing. I have a bag of Gardein Chicken/Buffalo Wings that I haven't tried yet.

ETA: I also got the Gardein products cheaper with coupons. Both Gardein and Morningstar Farms had printable coupons up on their facebook page a couple weeks ago.

I really liked the Gardein crispy tenders, I've gotten them a few times. I did not like the Tuscan breasts or rather the sauce they came in. I think I ended up washing it off the second one.
