I need to try this. I was never a huge tuna salad fan as an omni, but every now and then it was good to have. I'll whip up a batch of this once I've worked through my backlog of recipes to try.

I have totally eaten a whole batch of this over the course of a day. On more than one occasion. I always have to restrain myself from making it everyday, cause I like it with more vegenaise than necessary.

Arrrgh... I'm hungry and I want some now!

I made a huge batch this afternoon. Grab your bread and come over!

Mojie, you really should try it. It's much tastier than "real" tuna salad.

I've been wanting this so bad lately, just haven't had time to make it. I need to pick up some vegan mayo.

I don't think this tastes like tuna at all. Tuna is all fishy smelling and nasty and this is pure heaven

This one tastes more like tuna (I've been told). It's quite good.

That would be because of the dried kelp powder in it

I don't know if I would personally like a 'sea' taste in this sort of recipe, though I do enjoy seaweed in other recipes.

I'm going to trying this over the weekend. It's seems yummy and comes highly recommended by veggie here on the forum.

And you're going to wind up highly addicted to the stuff.

I like to make this and stuff it into a hollowed-out beefsteak tomato (use the "innerds" as another salad ingredient). Then, I eat like there's no tomorrow.

So. Freakishly. GOOOOOOD!

Heck yeah it is! I made it twice last week to share only between my 5 year old and I, it was gone in no time!

Finally got around to making this. I cut the recipe in half (since I'm going to be the only one eating it) and added a little extra Vegenaise and about 1/4 cup of diced celery for some crunch.

It's very tasty! I wouldn't say it tastes like tuna salad, exactly, but it has that generic sort of "salad" taste (egg salad, potato salad, etc. all have a similar taste to me) that I really like. I'm having some on crackers for lunch today.

Can this be made without the nutritional yeast flakes? What ARE nutritional yeast flakes & where can I buy them? Thanks!

Also, how long will this need refrigeration?

I'm not sure how it would taste without the nutrional yeast. I don't think I'd try it that way though. It should be fairly easy to find but you may need to go to a health food store. I get mine in the bulk bins.

You don't have to refrigerate prior to eating but it would probably be better that way - giving the flavors more time to meld.

I've never made it with yeast flakes and it tastes great to me. I mash the beans with a fork and just throw the rest in as is, then mix.

Yeah, it doesn't seem similar to tuna salad in any way to me. It's good, for what it is - a Mayonaise-tasting salad/sandwich-spread that's tasty on bread or as a dip. But I don't exactly get the whole "tuna" thing.

I've never had nutritional yeast and I've made this (without) many times, it's pretty damn good

+1 on skipping the yeast. I eat this stuff all the time and have never used the yeast. i also just make it and eat it, without refrigerating it first. also, I think it definitely tastes similar to tuna salad. lol.

Yay I made it & it WAS so good! I did end up finding nutritional yeast at whole foods (it was expensive though ) & I cut the recipe in half because there is only me. I ate it before refrigerating it, but I have to admit it tasted a lot better once it was colder. & I also think it tastes much more similar to egg salad, which I liked better anyway :p

P.s. I used a potato masher & it worked fine. I also used a fork a little bit to get some stray beans, but mostly the masher
