Apparently, some states have a lot of Democrats on the ballot against Obama. Here in Florida, we aren't even going to have a Democratic ballot in the presidential primary, because nobody besides Obama is running. I checked on that to see if there was any reason for me to show up on primary day.

I still don't understand why Flori-duh has it's presidential primaries on a different day from the primary for everything else. We have the presidential primary at the end of January, then another primary election day in August, before the main election in November. Why not just have both primaries on the same day, to save the expense of running two election days?

Florida moved up the presidential primary this year from August against the loud objections from the national republican party. As a penalty, Florida loses half its primary votes. And the republicans said that Floridians will get the worst placement at the national convention in Tampa in August. Florida will have a big effect on the choice of candidates by doing this, but losing half their delegates seems a big price to pay.

They did the same thing 4 years ago. But even before they moved it up to January, 8 years ago, there was a separate primary for the presidential race than for the rest of the primary stuff later in the year. I think it was in April in 2004, though I could be remembering wrong.

But again, why not combine that with the primaries for everything else? Move up the other primaries to be the same day as the presidential primary. Why hold two election days instead of one? It's just a waste of taxpayer money to have the polls open 3 days per year instead of just 2.
