Sigh. It dawned on me that there might be gelatin or something in one of my medications. I'm not going to get too personal and tell you which one, but can anyone provide me with a good link to look it up? I'm having trouble finding a site that looks reliable.
If it does contain animal products what should I do? I depend on this medication.

Crap. N/M. It does contain gelatin. It says so on about 5 different sites. So what can I do? This is horrible. I can't go off it. My insurance covers the generic which has the gelatin and the non generic also does. So stupid.

I've just started taking meds for high blood pressure, and I assume that the capsules are made with animal gelatin......not much you can do about that......just think of all the animals that die in the production of fruit and veg...that might put it in perspective.
Someone on here said that birds were shot on a fruit farm they worked at(I think), and someone told me that they used to get paid for catching moles on a farm, when they were kids.....if that helps....

Unfortunately if you've got to take it and your insurance won't cover any different type then you might just have to take it. Especially if it's important to your health. I wouldn't compromise my health for my lifestyle.

I often get annoyed by the pointlessness of gelatine and lactose in many of my medications. It really doesn't have to be there. I have rheumatoid arthritis and severe migraines and can't come off my medication. But, all things considered, I'm doing my best. I eat a (largely) vegan diet, but due to joint damage in my feet I have major problems getting shoes, so often wear leather shoes. In an ideal world my shoes would be vegan but they're just not available. I'm doing the best I can, and so are you. Don't worry, at least you are considering animal welfare (and a lot more) which is much more than most people can manage.

Yeah - I just don't get it! Isn't it cheaper to use a plant based cellulose to make a capsule? Oh well.
There is really nothing I can do about it- this med is non negotiable it took me years to settle on this one. I guess this will be the one thing. It sucks.

I'm as vegan as I can reasonably be. I would not hesitate to take medicine that contained gelatine, if I needed to.

If there is no acceptable veg*n alternative, what choice do you really have? Medications are tested on animals too I have meds I need to take too. Sometimes you just have to make an exception.

It does suck that so many meds that we need contain gelatin but what also sucks is being an unhealthy or dead vegan.

Just in case you need anyone else to say it, take the medication. Some things you can avoid, some you can't. This is a "can't" one of those things.
