I have the strangest craving for a meatball sub. I never ate one as an omni but I had a dream about one and can't get it off my mind. I can use cheezly melting slices and yummy homemade tomato sauce but what to do about those meatballs? I can't find any premade in the frozen section of the supermarket (I'm in the UK) so I think I'm gonna have to make some. I guess with tvp. How does one get it to stick together without egg? flaxseed?

Any ideas???

Here's a bunch of veggie burger recipes I'm sure you could make any of them in meatball shape instead of burger shape. I'm thinking the BBQ burgers or the Tofu burgers would taste really good in a meatball sub. There's some TVP burgers in there too but since I've never tasted TVP, I have no opinion on it.

No I can't find any gimme lean or have a wholefoods. UK had different veggie things but not meatballs (at least not where I shop-I've never seen one in any store I've been in). I'll need a recipe. This craving is driving me mad.

Thanks Codemonkey--I'll give them a go. I am still worried about binding them together.

Codemonkey--are you in the UK? I have seen Quorn meatballs but they have egg and milk. What about burgamix or sosamix? Do you think they'll work?

I'm in California. I'd think any mix for making burgers would work. I've seen burger mix in a box here (made by fantastic foods.) I've been tempted to try it but I'm a little scared of trying something from a box that's supposed to turn into a meat-like substance.

I haven't tried this recipe but it looks tasty.

These sausages hold together very well. You could just change the seasoning to be more meatball-like.
