This was too hilarious to not share

This line takes the cake:

Naturally the attorney for the couple has moved to dismiss Dimmick's lawsuit for various reasons, one of which includes the fact that a contract cannot be legally binding if a person is forced into agreeing to it at knifepoint.

Classic stuff!

Slightly reminescent of something that happened at a company where I worked; After a series of burglaries the director chose, as a security device, a 'smokecloak'. Basicaly they fill a room with a non toxic but completeley blinding smoke if an intrusion is detected. Idea simply being that the intruder(s) are immobilised are are thus very likely to still be groping around in pitch dark when the occifers of the law eventualy deem it fit to arrive.

Companies insurers said they would refuse to insure if such a device were employed.

Reason being that law suits for any injury the burglars encurred if they hurt themselves trying to escape were very likely to succeed.

Security devices that gave the burglars every chance to escape, and return to try another day, were duly deployed.

I feel that the couple were being rather evasive and diabolical. It takes alot to kidnap someone AND it's already stressful enough to actually do it. And the fact that they were willing to do more than try and escape shows me that they were being pretty selfish in regards to Dimmick. poor guy.

man, what a valid point. but then again, if he gets attacked and doesn't have said knife, that's a few more lawsuits waiting in the wings.
