* Lowe's says the show has become a "lightning rod"
* The company's decision is decried by CAIR and a cast member

(CNN) -- Lowe's has pulled its advertising from the reality TV show "All-American Muslim," which the retail store called a "lightning rod."

"All-American Muslim" is an eight-part series that follows five Muslim families living in Dearborn, Michigan.

"Lowe's has received a significant amount of communication on this program, from every perspective possible. Individuals and groups have strong political and societal views on this topic, and this program became a lightning rod for many of those views. As a result we did pull our advertising on this program," the company said in a statement Saturday.

"We believe it is best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance."

The conservative Florida Family Association, which is pushing advertisers to drop "All-American Muslim," cheered Lowe's decision. The group called the TLC show "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."

But the company's decision was decried by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and at least one of the show's cast members.

I keep forgetting to watch this program. I guess now I'll have to, so I can find out what Lowe's considers so offensive.

When I sit down to watch a bunch of commercials with a little bit of show in-between, I never link the two. I figure the company just wants to advertise. I never really think that the companies support the program. If that were the case, every politician would support every show on every channel during an election year.

Seems like Lowes buckled under the pressure of fear mongering from radical Christians.

Keep in mind most people won't ever watch the show, what they will hear and believe is that Lowe's is supporting Muslim propaganda. Doesn't matter that they are buying into the anti Muslim propaganda hook, line and sinker.

I've never actually seen the show, but it looks like most of TLC's shows, they follow a few families, they show them playing football/praying/fighting with family/eating dinner, then act like it's a revelation that they are so similar to the rest of America.

Now that I don't have to get up to get to school, I'm gonna stay up to watch it. It looks interesting enough.

There is a threat in the United States, but it isn't Muslims.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
It's reality television.

Thought the show was pretty boring tbh. The people who are going after advertisers are the worst of the worst, though. People should just understand that this is what "liberal bias" looks like to conservatives: simply portraying muslims as human beings.

I've never even heard of this show. I find pretty much everything on TLC mind-numbingly boring. I think I even have it blocked on my tv.

Same here. I don't have it blocked but I have no idea what channel it is.

I don't think Lowe's is pulling it out of some radical show. I think they've had pressure from groups that could possibly affect their sales. And i would bet that a sizeable population of Lowes' shoppers are blue collar conservatives.

Well, all I can say is that, perhaps unwittingly, Lowe's decision gave the series lots of free publicity. Now more people will probably check it out to see what all the fuss is about. I'm hoping some nitwit high up in the Lowe's organization gets fired over that.
