For L.A. City residents...

Quote:

The Los Angeles City Council is considering an ordinance to prohibit the retail sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores, unless they come from a shelter or 501(c)(3) rescue group. This is a big step forward for countless animals suffering in commercial mills and backyard breeding operations.

L.A. is on track to becoming the nation’s largest no-kill city. But we won’t get there as long as thousands of commercially bred animals continue to be imported into Los Angeles pet stores while so many healthy, adoptable animals are being killed in the city’s shelters, simply because there aren’t enough homes for them. It’s time for L.A. to join the other 10 California cities (including Glendale, Irvine, West Hollywood and Huntington Beach) that have passed ordinances to halt the flow of milled pets being sold in local pet stores.

If you are a resident of the City of Los Angeles, please ask your City Council member to support this important step toward a more humane Los Angeles. All it takes is a few clicks and you’ve done your part to help thousands of puppies, kittens and rabbits produced by pet mills.
