I have a problem with loose skin...primarily around my stomach, the skin has tightened in other areas. Though, I'm worried that I'd need to have surgery in the future...as I lost so much weight in only a few months.

I switched to a vegan diet/lifestyle, exactly seven months ago and I lost 133 pounds; 300 to 177 pounds. I'm 20 years old, 6'3...I workout and exercise daily.

My main worry is that my stomach will remain this way and that my stomach has completely lost it's elasticity. Though, I'm young but I'm not sure how much of a factor that plays into it.

Any information would be helpful, thanks in advance.

Oh my god, you really lost that much weight in that short of time??

I don't have any advice, but WOW.

ETA: Yeah, don't worry about surgery just yet. If you lose weight that fast, it's going to take a while for your skin to catch up. By the way, I'm ALWAYS up to receive photographs.

Wow. I'd say wait it out for awhile. The body's pretty good at taking care of itself, especially cause you're young. Oh, and before you do anything drastic, like surgery, watch the Discovery Health channel a whole bunch. There's tons of plastic surgery shows that show what happen during a tummy tuck. Yeah, but, wow.

Congratulations on your new lifestyle!

I'm trying to lose some weight too so it is great to hear other success stories.

I have no advice except keep working out and concentrate on working out your stomach.

wow! I did the math and that means you had to lose an average of 4.75 lbs a week! I know your question was about loose skin but, do you mind telling me how you did that? I'm just kind of curious.... was it only diet and exercise?

Thanks!

Not to be the bringer of doom and gloom, but that must extra skin generally doesn't regain anything resembling it's former elasticity. However, you are young, so you're skin will pop back better than some. Weight training can help, and there's some debate about skin creams with ingredients like Vit.A.

I also know how it is! (180 to 110 in a fairly short amount of time.)

Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to get rid of that skin. I tried situps, but to no avail.

Good luck! If you find anything, let me know.

Thanks for the helpful input. As for my weight loss, I think had very little to do with my age, but with how I ate.

Make sure you eat 5-8 small meals a day; boosts metabolism. Eating larger portioned meals slows your metabolic rate to a crawl. Also stuck to a 1500-2000 calorie diet, took very little multivitamins...hate those horse-pills.

I did nothing specific but space how I ate and being a vegan obviously helped. Hopefully this helps you and thanks again.

Use toning exercises. At least that's what my mom said helps. *shrug* I'm not really sure what those exercises entail, but it can't hurt to try.

Drink plenty of water, that keeps your skin elastic which in turn means less saggage.

Use the general skin creams. Shea butter, cocoa butter, vit E, creams for pregnant women helps.

I know how this is too. I went from 210 to 130 (i am back at 150 though lol). Anyway, I found that LOTS of protein helps, plus weight training, firming lotions, and a diet high in raw foods.

For some reasons raw foods in ABUNDANCE combined with proteins in mass quanties, while limiting starches and grains...really helped my skin!

That sounds pretty appealing. Though, we have no health food stores nearby so I'd have to stick with inorganic foods. A raw diet may also help with my chronic gastritis...assuming that most raw foods are alkaline.

Thanks again for the helpful input.
