Wasn't sure where to post this, but because it had to do with animals, I decided to put it here. I'm 17 right now, turning 18 in November. However, I want to start volunteering somewhere this month. I want to do something involving animals, but I don't know if I want to work at a pound. I think that is kinda unoriginal. I want to do something involving setting up protests, or being an advocate. I know it varies area by area, but does anyone know of any organizations to look into?

Well it is hard to help if you don't tell us where you are? Or you can just do an online search for animal rights organizations in your area, or visit a local health food store and see if there are ads for shelters and contact them, or order some booklets online (from VO or something similar) and distribute them in the street. Lots of choices out there.

If that's the kind of thing you want to do then maybe you could consider PETA's street team?

Yea you should do the peta2 street team i think it's fun and at that same time your standing up for animals. so every one wins.

There is also Vegan Outreach. They even have an adopt-a-college program, where you can set-up a leafleting program. You don't have to be a college student to do it.

What country are you in first off?

There are so many things you can do but I'm just going to write this with the assumption that you are in the US since I'm in the US and I don't know about other countries other than the amazing Igualdad Animal in Spain.

You can find local animal rights organizations or local rescues to help out with tabling for them or doing transports or even fostering if your family was cool with that. Or you could look into something like the PETA Street Team as already mentioned. There's also people who go around the country leafleting that get sponsored by various organizations. Two of my friends right now are on a tour and they gave out 12,000 leaflets a couple days ago at an event. There's also probably local sanctuaries around you that you could volunteer at or you could look into going to Farm Sanctuary to volunteer at their places. With local animal rights organizations you can volunteer to table, leaflet, organize protests, etc. And if you live in a smaller city or in a town with a smaller city nearby that doesn't have anything vegan related you can always set up your own group. I run a group that we basically do a monthly vegan dining out and we have a monthly animal rights book club but we also do demonstrations, leafleting, potlucks, movie screenings and other things.
