Hi guys!

I need a new cookbook. I have some classics - the Enchanted Broccilli Forest, Vegetarian Epicure I and II and a newer one How it All Vegan (which I like). However, to fully embrace my martha stewart fanatasy and cook all day on sundays, I need some new inspiration. I am obsessed with web recipes too, especially Fatfree.com and this site. I am looking to reduce the amount of processed foods in my diets and focus almost exclusively on veggies, fruit, whole grains, beans and some tofu. I'll save my indulgences for alcohol
. Anyway, do you know of anything with relatively simple recipes that focus on whole, fresh foods?

Thanks in advance.

Vegan with a Vengeance by Isa Chandra Moskowitz is my ultimate favorite cookbook. It does have a good amount of desserts/baked goods but most of the book follows your guidelines. Try taking a trip to your local library to check out vegan cookbooks. Check out www.theppk.com for lots of great recipes, it's run by Isa (who wrote VwaV)

Vegan With a Vengeance will change your life!
I've never been disappointed by any of the recipes. It's just good food that happens to be vegan, not typical "vegan food". Also, later in october a companion book by the same author will be released titled "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World".

Oh my gosh!!! I own that one, too! Just got it, haven't tried anything yet, although I did try some of her recipes she's posted on line...

I love how, if you do something really good, word DOES get around. Hurray, Internet!!!

Christina Pirello has some great cookbooks. She used to be a baker and has worked in restaurants, so she's NOT the bark-and-grass type. Her recipes are even macrobiotic, if you REALLY want to be healthy. But if you're into healthy, not too processed, she has some great books. She also has a cooking show on PBS, "Christina Cooks." See if you've got it locally. I particularly love her addiction to desserts and in particular, chocolate!!

My kids' comment about the pancake recipe in Vegan with a Vengeance: "Best...Pancakes...Ever!" (there was lots of chewing and drooling in between the words. I doubled the recipe and there were no leftovers.

I made the pancakes yesterday morning from Vegan with a Vengance. Then for lunch I made the Mango Summer Rolls (fantastic) then for dinner I made the falafel with tahini sauce (unreal) so yummy!!! Last week I made the chicpea broccoli casserole, that was also very good. This is my fave cookbook and I am a cookbook feind.

One of my first vegan cookbooks, which was not only inviting but also VERY practical, is "Vegan Cooking for One" by Leah Leneman. These recipes are simple, easy, and delicious! Really, check it out, because I love this one! Though now I would like to check out "Vegan with a Vengeance" ^_^

Good luck and happy cooking!

I recommend the "A Vegan Taste of......" series of books. I am a complete flavour whore and this series of books covers every flavour you can think of! I've just bought "A Vegan Taste Of East-Africa" off of amazon.co.uk for £2 something!!! Complete bargain

well it's definitely different than most cookbooks. I actually used two marinade recipes (tofu and tempeh) and made a rice bowl recipe from JFL today!

I second all of the Vegan With a Vengeance recommendations.

I haven't gotten the chance to make everything in it yet, but I've paged through the whole book and everything looks AWESOME!
