In South Africa they breed Lions specifically for the wealthy to pay a ****load of money to hunt as trophies.

The Lions are partly tame/domestic, and are often drugged. Then along comes a rich prick who has paid thousands to "hunt" the Lion.

Often the carcass of an animal is tied to a tree to draw the Lion (once s/he has been 'released').

The hunters only shoot it in the stomach (one of the most painful spots) since they don't want to damage the hide or head..... they are skinned and beheaded; the skin providing a rug and the head being able to be mounted on the wall. They prefer the big males, too.

This is so sickening. I was reading the report about it by some investigators, and looking at the pictures of the Lions as Cubs...... so damn depressing.

I don't understand, why are human beings so horribly cruel. I really can't stand it. In texas they have hunting ranches where they do the same thing and the zoo's sell them their excess animals because they keep breeding them so they will have babies to put on show. I saw a program on TV about it and Gerald McRainy was there shooting animals I had to turn it off and now I can't stand to watch any show that he is on.

We have a few Zimbabwe Leopard hunts left at only $450.00 per day! We have consistently averaged near 100% with this outfitter (we shot 9 Leopard with 9 hunters in 2001), and nearly all Leopards taken are large males. This is an outstanding opportunity to take a trophy Tom. We only have 2 openings left for 2002, so book fast!

Excuse me. Could you do me a favor and give some type of warning somehow that a photo of a dead animal is included in the post? That would be so thoughtful. Or maybe just post a link to it so that members have the option to either see it or not see it. I now feel literally disgusted and sickened. Thanks!

I know, but really if I wanted to look at dead animals killed by murders I'd go to Google and look it up. That easy. Just a simple request that's all out of respect for us folks who try not to bring that kind of violence into their lives (via pictures or anything else). Hey, maybe I'll put that in as a suggestion for the upcoming VB improvements.

The other creepy hunting technique I learned about 3 weeks ago was fox hunting. Robin Webb, the press officer for the ALF, spoke to a group in my city and he was talking about it.

He said that if they wanted to use hounds to get the fox, they would use a blood hound to find the fox, and then grey hounds (or other fast dogs) to kill it the second it came out of the bush.

Instead, special 'fox hounds' are bred that are slower than the fox, but have much more stamina. Basically so the hunt lasts much longer chasing the fox, but the fox eventually gets tired so the hunters always win.

Im not trying to gross anyone out, but that is the perfect example of why hunting isnt a real sport, its a blood sport. To many people try to use the excuse "It brings us close to nature" or "Its man versus wilderness" and all that crap. The sports are created just to make it as long, yet always succesful as possible.

If someone really wants to go head to head with nature, please go hunt a bear with nothing but your hands, then it will be truly against nature, and much more even thx

those pictures of the lioness were really saddening and disgusting, but you did write that they may be disturbing, thank you for that. on a board like this you gotta assume that it might be a dead animal. i didn't know this was even a big deal, lion hunting. even though i'm disgusted i'm glad i'm informed now.

Yes, one of those 'sports' where the other party isn't asked and doesn't have the choice of whether it wants to play or not.

To go 'head to head with nature' is quite silly, you are part of nature. Seeing yourself as seperate is where the problems come in.
