I'm trying to get leather out of my life. Turns out it's a persistent little b*****, let me explain:

I used to have a leather belt for school. I've given it up for the price of walking around waiting for any sign of them dropping down...

On top of that, my mom and dad's new couches are leather. Luckily there is a computer desk chair which I have been reduced to to stop my spine bending a new way by just sitting on the floor.

Does anybody else suffer from things like these? Also, does anybody have any leather substitue sites they can share with us?

Thanks and long live the carrot!

Why not just use your belt until it wears out? It's been discussed many times here and that's generally the consensus.

You can check for non-leather belts at http://www.veganstore.com or http://www.veganessentials.com.

My attitude toward leather is that if I can find something that is just as good and is not leather, I buy that. I see no need for leather seats in my car, leather furniture, leather coats, leather desk accessories, etc. I have some leather belts I'll wear until they wear out and then I'll see what's available. Shoes are tough for me - I have narrow feet and most manufacturers of shoes of man-made products don't make them for narrow feet. (And yes, I've looked.) So, I have leather shoes where I can't find non-leather ones that fit.

If you're living with your parents, I wouldn't worry too much about the leather furniture. Just don't buy any when you move out on your own (and refuse any generous offers of their hand-me-downs).

I hate leather too. What sucks... my car's seats are leather. Trust me, I hate them. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car (03 Jetta)... all but the seats! I didn't chose it, my sister did. I took over the payments on it (the only way I could afford a decent car).

I also received a leather watch for Christmas. It's sitting on my bookshelf. My bro in law said he wouldn't be offended if I took it back, but I don't know what I should do... He doesn't have the receipt and I don't have the time to drive an hour away to exchange it. Anyone want to exchange it for me?
