Does anyone have any of her books? I just saw Easy Vegan Cooking at an online bookshop at it has heaps of info on veganism in it (I'm lacto-veg*n).

I've decided to go the whole way (I'll have to cook potato bake to get rid of my rennet-free cheese tonight though) since I found a dairy replacement - Oatmilk - Yay!

Anyone know of cheese/cream replacements that are any good in Australia? We are deprived of all the US/UK brands here so if anyone knows of a good product PLEASE let me know.

I have two of Leahs books, Easy Vegan Cooking and The Tofu Cookbook. Haven't tried anything from either one though, because I like to see pics of the stuff I'm about to make. Anyway, they have lots of the same recipes, so I'd suggest getting Easy Vegan Cooking first. If you like it, and like tofu, then you may consider getting the other one too. The recipes sound nice and yummy, I just have some problem with cooking without pics

I agree, pics are the best bit. I like to window shop for my dinner. No really, it's way too much work if you actually read through the recipes

the only vegan cheeses in aus:

are tofutti better than cream cheese (not bad but pretty rare)

and kingland cream cheese

that is all.

There are also recipes online and in book such as the uncheese cookbook to make vegan cheese.

I would probably recommend just staying away from cheese and cheese subsitutues for a little while as they can be a bit dissapointing.

Focus on adding other yummy toppings such as hummus or avocado.

I too have the Easy Vegan Cooking book, I'm really not too impressed. Some of the things were just gross (and I consider myself a really good cook). There were a few salvagable recipes, but I think the cake on the front is a little misleading. I'm also in the states, and a lot of the ingredients I can't easily find ( such as canned nutmeats ).

Aww crap I hate both those. Oh well I might just stay away like you said. I emailed a begging letter to Sanitarium to make a mock cheddar cheese a'la Tofutti but I doubt they'll do it based on one letter.

Quote:
