Thought I would share this info.

I was browsing the Sainsburys website yesterday and came across two products I've never seen before. Lazy Day Millionaires Shortbread and Lazy Day ginger snaps.

I'd never heard of this brand before, so I looked it up. The webpage for anyone interested is www.lazydayfoods.com.

Their products are gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free, vegan & no hydrogenated fat.

Can't see them on the Sainburys website today though.

Not healthy foods obviously, but a naughty treat now and then won't kill me, so I'm definitely looking out for the Millionaires Shortbread on my next shop. I hope they stock the Chocolate Orange Slices too. Can't wait

These are really yummy, my sainsburys has 4 different lazy day products, the short bread, ginger chocolate things, orange chocolate things & chocolate tiffin - all vegan. They're very expensive (I think £2.85 each) but nice
My loccal health food shop does do them cheaper though.

Sainsburys also do cashew and almond nut butter now (again, at a price. They were origionall in at £1.50 which was awesome, but now they're about £2.50 I think).

Sainsburys, you say?

Hmmm ....

Shortbread is about the only non-vegan food that I actualy miss.

Hence the 'millionaire' in the name?

I would be in the Bentley and off to Sainburys straight away but, unfortunately, Monday is the chaffeurs day off

Waitrose also stock the shortbread and tiffin. I've only tried the shortbread and was really disappointed, it just tasted like salt to me. Definitely wasn't worth what they were charging imo, but I've heard better things about the tiffin.

I tried the Millionaire's shortbread about six months ago (bought from Waitrose). Maybe it was a bad batch or something but it had a real greasy almost rancid taste to it- anyone else have the same experience? One of my fave treats is Sainsburys choc mint crisps in their freefrom range . They are very expensive but gorgeous. I also tend to "make" my own choc biscuits by buying vegan digestives or hobnobs and melting some vegan chocolate and spreading it over one side and popping in the fridge for half an hour to set.

I found vegan chocolate digestives in the kosher section of Sainsburys the other day

Yet to find the lazy days stuff though

I've had the lazy day stuff, (its made near here so i feel justified buying it- suplorting local businesses!) found it in the health food store and, randomly, Dobbies garden centre, but it's so expensive and only the tiffin is really good. I'm starting to think that shortbread is just one of those things that can't really be replicated with margerine
. Mind you it might be the fact they are gluten free, that often changes the flavour of biscuits and cakes even more than subbing dairy for veg-based alternatives.

I was in Sainsburys yesterday and noticed that the freefrom choc mint crisps (which I've never bought as they're so expensive) were reduced 'while stocks last' so they may be being discontinued :/.

It could be that they're being rebranded and will come back into stores with different packaging. Where I work in we have to reduce the old packaging and discontinue/suspend the old line until the new one arrives.

The Lazy Day chocolate tiffin is amazing and the chocolate orange slice is fantastic. I can't get enough of them - and my mother in law who isn't veggie adores the fruit slices! Great to see some really great quality vegan cakes for a change!
