Hello, all. I'm another "refugee" from VegWeb and My name is DeeYahMK. I'm 37 and live in Washington, in a dinky little no-name town that's about 6 hours drive from the Canadian border as the crow flies, but not as one would drive (especially if that "one" were me...hehehe). I have a cat, Imogene who doesn't care about taking over the world (unlike Snuggles, for example), but she does crave a good lap every now and again and she loves her belly scratched.
I've been married 10 years to a man that's the love of my life and a bright, shining pillar in my world. He knows all about me and I know all about him, and we love each other, regardless. We are a "mixed marriage" because I'm veg and he's not but he's at least open to what I'm doing and why so I won't complain. I love music, computering, being among my fellow veg'ers, and cooking. I'm physically disabled, now (long story, there) so I don't work but I used to work as a radio announcer, director at a t.v. station and voice-over person for t.v. commericals. I also write songs and at one time, played alto sax in an all-girl punk/new wave band.

Hey Dee! What no name town in Washington? That is my state. I am in a little mountain valley know as Robe Valley but our mail comes from the town at the foot of the mountain so my mailing address is different from the community I live in. How nice to know of another struggling veghead somewhere in my personal Never Land.

BTW, I started out in a mixed marriage but after reading Fast Food Nation and Mad Cowboy my husband now eats veg! He still calls himself an omni and a hunter, but he refuses to eat meat and has not been hunting or fishing in years. The change is so complete that HE chastised ME the other day for thinking that I should make some kind of cheese casserole for guests that were coming for the day. He assured me that I am a very good cook and baker and that we should offer them something that we would eat because they will like it. What a shock, I just cannot get used to that. He was right.
