Kraft Mac n' Cheese

Is it a safe product to eat? Someone told me before that it was not and I am not sure myself. My reason for asking is if it is safe I was going to have a family member pick some up while out so I could try it, have not really had it before so I do not know if it is one I should be asking my mother to pick up while out (she does not allow me to come, guess I am a pain
).

I am a Lacto-ovo vegetarian (for money reasons I cant take a further step yet). So is this a safe item for me? Any responses would help, thanks.

If you haven't ever had it, why do you want to start eating it? It's processed, artificial and NASTAY! (I honestly don't know if the cheese used is vegetarian or not...).

Are you wanting something fast? Or filling? Or easy? Or cheap? Or vegetarian? (Or maybe all of those?)

Why not make a bean burrito, or spaghetti? ( Or soup? Or heat up a can of vegetarian chili (many "mainstream" brands out there are actually vegetarian)

Nastay?! Oh, I wish I shared that opinion but I love it too much. It's cheesy crack. It was one of the foods I missed the most, more than pizza, when I was vegan. I do like your other suggestions though. Personally if I'm craving mac-n-cheese I just eat macaroni and pasta sauce.

But I don't avoid rennet, so I never looked into the matter that much. I tried calling their consumer hotline just now but it closed at 9pm.

Thanks for trying, very thoughtful.

As for my reason for wanting to try it, my cousin eats it commonly and is going to visit so I figured I would buy him some, possibly try it myself as well. As for my health, it should be fine. I have lost 20 pounds over the last year (mostly the last few months) and am still keeping myself eating decent and working when I can.

Heehee - honestly? My kids eat the stuff too. They are not vegan. And since they don't do the grocery shoppng, guess who BUYS the stuff for them?
Yeah. Their vegan MOM!

I think of boxed mac and cheese as a sodium infused carb-fest. And sometimes I'm in the mood for that. It does taste better if I add some spinach or broccoli, though. There are some brands which specify on their ingredient lists that the enzymes are from animal sources. Kraft's Organic (http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?...uct=2100001255) and Back to Nature brands (http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?...uct=5928340010) specify non-animal sources.
How about Annie's Mac and Cheese? They have a whole wheat shells and white cheddar one that is AMAZING (and organic/all natural)!

Stay away from Kraft! BAD!

I second that!!

I weaned my omni bf off the kraft type mac&cheese onto Annie's. He loves them, and I make sure there is always some in the house so he won't be tempted to go back to the fake-o gross stuff.

I hear ya, I've got an onmi BF too. But still...there's something about the Meijer (grocery store chain for those you who dont' have it) brand spiral mac n cheese that is quite nice loaded with black pepper...when we're hung over. hehe

Same here. It's one of my comfort foods when I'm feeling low and just need something familiar.
You've never had Kraft Dinner?
I haven't ever heard of that happening before. Well, if you aren't used to processed foods, it has that bitter...y'know that flavour that they have. And of course being processed DAIRY it has the funk...you know the one where you're sitting there like 5 hours later wondering what that smell is and you spray air freshener around and open the windows and burn some incense and you wonder why you can still smell it, and then the realization hits that the smell is coming from inside you?

Enjoy!
