I listen to a lot more oldies music than today's music. I don't voluntarily listen to today's music. Other people turn it on so I hear it a lot. I'd like to hear more indies music but I haven't been able to find a station that plays it.

Well I recommend using YouTube or various label or review sites or record store sites for that purpose. YouTube has many songs posted, both from albums and from live performances, and sites for record labels or record stores, or for music reviews, have some clips you can listen to.

The performance was good but I'd have to hear more from her. It's in the lower register where the great singers shine so I'd have to hear other performances from her.

Regarding other comments Kelly does do a lot of songwriting. From what I can tell many of her fans think she's good at it. I don't think her record label feels the same way so we'll see what happens after she leaves her record label. Just because she's a pop musician doesn't mean she doesn't write her own lyrics.

Not really, since I don't know what type of music you're interested in. Within the category of independently produced music sung by women, there are still quite a lot of different styles.

I agree about musicians making their own songs, and while we're at it, I often wonder why lip-syncing is so frowned upon when discovered by the entertainment industry when these manufactured personalities aren't even performing their own music in the first place.

Kelly Clarkson is a very talented singer. my favorite of hers is Breakaway.

if you type in "favorite female singers" and "best female singers" in youtube's search, a ton of stuff comes up.
