We went for the first time on Saturday and I am just now recovered from our gluttony. I really wanted to get the country fried steak, but since hubby got it - I was really stupid and got something I saw people praise in reviews - the sweet potato quesadillas and YUCK! Neither one of us liked them. It had nothing to do with cheese substitutes - the flavors did not marry well. However, a guy sitting next to us ordered them and scarfed them down quickly so to each his own I guess. I really didn't want them, but took them home in a box to not be rude lol.
We got the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer - which I basically gave to my husband as he swore up and down it wasn't vegan. The milkshakes - OMG! Best shakes I've ever had.
Earlier on V-Day we got a couple of their cakes from Whole Foods and they were absolutely amazing so I knew we were in for a treat on their dessert menu, but I had no idea the shakes would be that good.

The mashed potatoes and gravy were also REALLY impressive and my hubby - the carrot hater ate all of his mixed veggies in that pesto sauce. We ordered another country fried steak dinner to go hoping to save it for the next day, but it didn't make it through the night

Oh I forgot - I got a cup of chili since I didn't eat the quesadillas. I'm glad I just got a cup - it was very filling and very good.

I love this place. I went a couple years ago when I was total carnivore and loved their rueben. I just visited the new location in Logan Square and had the country-fried steak and loved it.

Between Chicago Diner, Native Foods, Green Zebra, and Karyns I am set for a while when going out to a vegan restaurant!

I used to live right up the street from ChiDi. Now I'm on the south side, and there's nothing good down here. :( Another good place just north of the Diner is called Asian Mix. They serve meat, but they have lots of tofu dishes and things.
