This is VERY interesting. I maybe shouldn't really comment much as I'm not much of a 'fair case', having had a lot of trouble with EDs over the last 10 years, BUT when I went veggie I slowly put on loads of weight (was very thin as an omni as never liked meat or ate much generally), I ate far too much pasta! Then I went vegan and lost it all again slowly (ED kicked in 'officially' around this time). When I went raw vegan for 6 months I lost a lot very quick, despite eating more bananas and nuts than the average monkey
Going vegetarian, and later vegan did not cause me to lose weight because my diet was based too much on convenience foods and processed junk, with not a high enough volume fruits and vegetables. I went vegan around 12 years ago, but had been vegetarian since age 15. At times I was a fat vegetarian and always struggled to control my weight. At this point, at the age of 48 I no longer struggle with this, and I weigh less than I did in high school. I am 4'11", and I weighed 91.8 pounds as of this morning. I manage to maintain this low weight now with no difficulty because I found Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live diet style, which you can read about on his website: www.drfuhrman.com
I am still a vegan, but I'm following a much healthier vegan diet now than I used to, and it has made a really huge and lasting change in my life.
