I'm a student, and it *absolutely* goes against my beliefs! I feel that I should stay at home watching Dr Who and composing music instead of wasting my time learning about 'structuration theory' and Durkheim's theory of pancake tossing...<br><br><br><br>
I did, however, work for <A Popular UK Chain of Shops, that tends to sell magazines, pens, books, music, etc.><br><br><br><br>
It didn't really go against my beliefs as such, but some of the decisions they made annoyed the hell out of me. For example, they refused to stock Marilyn Manson's 'Holywood' album - because they considered it offensive. But they had a huge promotional display of Eminem's new album. Now there's logic for ya!<br><br>

That it's cruel to toss pancakes and may lead them to commit collective suicide?

I work for a University that is part of a big biomedical research park that is going up, that will no doubtedly experiment on lots of animals.<br><br><br><br>
That said, what I do has nothing to do with that. I work as part of a research team that examines physician-patient interaction in order to help physicians do a better job, especially at helping their patients lead healthier lifestyles. If we are successful at at all, this will inevitably lead to people eating less animal products, and having fewer long term chronic disease that create a demand for animal research. But of course I want people to be health in and of itself, too. I am very much interested in promoting public health.

I work for an insurance company, one of the largest, and it does't really go against my beliefs but I do feel as though I've sold out. Before starting there I hated insurance companies, this one in particular. The people who work for this company have a reputation around town (well-earned, I might add) of being cheap, insincere, selfish, snooty, etc. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I work there.<br><br><br><br>
But (in theory) all of us must work and I don't want to be judged by where I work or who I work with so I try extra hard to do things outside of work to make a difference. So many people get complacent and forget about (or just don't care about) the problems facing others. I see that in 99% of the people I work with and don't ever want to let that happen to me.

High school teacher. A near perfect fit as far as my values are concerned (although teaching in an "outward bound" program or something similar would probably be even closer). I do have to make a lot of copies, though.<br><br><br><br>
I used to sell auto parts, though, which is pretty close to the opposite of everything I believe in. It did put me through grad school though, so that I could eventually get the job that fit.

I'm programmer and managing hosting company. Sometimes I refuse to work with fishing/hunting sites. And I make discounts for veggie/ar sites.

I'm a waitress at a horrible "home-cooking" southern-style restaurant. It goes totally against my beliefs. However, when customers ask me what I eat on my break, I like to say "I go over to the restaurant across the street..." (It's an awesome veg*n place).

One of my vegan offline friends (well, my only vegan offline friend) grew up on a dairy farm and decided to become a vegetarian when he was in the middle of slaughtering a cow. He still works for one because he needs the money for his greenhouses.

I'm in high school and I have no job yet. I have checked out our local health store but I'm to young. I'm having a hard time finding a job which goes with my beliefs.<br><br><br><br>
I do want to start a website, although I doubt it would generate any money or enough to even pay for itself for a few years if it didn't going under. I'm having a hard time finding a web host which doesn't require a credit card anyway.<br><br><br><br>
I checked out the host your using Michael but I didn't see any costs. You mind if I ask you if their expensive? (Sorry for going off topic)

This site is hosted with a friend of a friend. He owns the server, primarily for his business. He does let a few other people use it but other than that he doesn't really do hosting. You might want to check out <a href="http://www.webnamesolutions.com" target="_blank">http://www.webnamesolutions.com</a> - that's another friend of mine, his cheapest package is $19.95 though and it sounds like you're wanting something cheaper. Send Sergio a PM, he's a member here, he does hosting and I know he offers vegetarians discounts.

Some of the packages I've looked at go from $20-30 a month. I would like to keep the cost as low as possible though. If I do put up a site won't be until probably June due to the cost of the software and my limited knowledge of JavaScript and CGI. Thanks for the help Michael. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><br><br><br><br><br><br><div class="quote-container"><span>Quote:</span>

He doesn't have to at the farm he works for now. The farm he grew up on was his family's so they had to do everything themselves.<br><br><br><br>
I know it is the most un-vegan of jobs, but since I met him I've gained respect for farming. He loved growing up in the country and he learned the value of hard work. (I'm not romanticizing rural life here; it's not a friendly place to live if you don't have a mullet or a nascar flag on the back of your truck.)

I teach 7th grade World History and Language Arts (English). It's fun and the students are genuinly interested in why I abstain from certian items. The other staff is great too, and the fact that there are other veg*ans on the staff helps a great deal.<br><br>
My previous job was as a one on one reading tutor for students learning English as a second language. The one of the most un vegan job I had was before I was vegan working at a famous northeastern state based ice cream chain. I went home sticky with ice cream and because they use egg whites to make their ice cream creamier I couldn't eat any of it anyways. People always asked what my favorite flavor was and I just said the ate the Purple Passionfruit Sorbet and left it at that.<br><br>
I also worked briefly in a Sub sandwitch place but after I refused to use the cutter to slide slabs off these chunks of pork and turkey and beef my hours started being cut lower and lower until I just quit because working 1 hour a week wasn't worth it.

I am a freelance writer and self-employed Chiropractic Assistant (work for many offices, not just one.) ABSOLUTELY supports my beliefs! I'm also a student, which I don't think supports anyone's beliefs but the guy who writes the textbooks....

How do you go about being a freelance writer, anyway? Do you just start sending out your work until someone eventually wants to pay to publish/print something? I'd love to do something with my writing eventually. No matter what, I want to be self-employed.<br><br><br><br>
Right now, I'm doing nothing, so I guess that goes along with my beliefs since I'm not going against anything, ha.
