Japan has succeeded in buying the votes that will give it control of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) later this week, in a major step towards bringing back commercial hunting of whales.<br><br><br><br>
The pro-whaling nation has gained the support of three more small countries to give it a definite majority in the IWC, and so begin in earnest its attack on the international whaling moratorium which has been in force for 20 years.</div>

maybe we should all stop buying japanese products to boycott? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/mad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":mad:"><br><br><br><br>
That would leave out most of the techie products.<br><br><br><br><br><br>

For now, at least. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/sad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":("><br><br><br><br>
ETA: But let me ask a question and see if anybody can answer it: Japan is a very tradition-bound country and they seem bound and determined to hunt and kill whales for god-knows-what "traditional" and "cultural" reasons they can come up with.<br><br><br><br>
But what's Norway's excuse? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/huh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":confused:">
