January Challenge

As far as I can see, October was the last time we had a challenge up! Sorry, guys. I'm starting this one for anyone who wants to join.

For those of you not familiar with the monthly challenge, members interested in changing their health, weight, exercise, etc often post their goals and track their progress here.

I'm still deciding on my goals for January (and for the year) and I won't have control over what I eat, nor a place to exercise, for at least another week. But I'll post my goals then, if I have internet by that point.

Happy 2012, everyone!

Feels like a disparage in time requirement.
I'm in. I don't expect to lose any weight, but I want to start eating better again. I want to make really healthy smoothies to give me energy and get nutrients I'm lacking from being forced to eat at work 5-6 meals a week.

You mean not enough time? The splits I think are doable - I'm about 90% there right and left and 60% middle. The push-ups... maybe not, but I've got a dvd set that works on upper body strength, and I'm hoping to start it in either February or March, once I've gotten back into the swing of slightly less hard-core workouts (I'm SO out of shape right now, that set is too challenging for me at the moment). Either way, it gives me a goal to work towards.

Nah, I thought that it would take you a lot of time to do the splits, and less time to do the push-ups.

That's what it would be for me at least.

I just spend a long weekend staying with my sister-in-law to visit my husband's family since we didn't see them at Christmas time... It was not a good weekend for weight loss

did one time, then I realized that I was severely dehydrated, but it was pretty good, maybe I should do that before I'm out running on my off days.

Ah.
I used to dance a lot, so I've still got a little flexibility left. But my arms and chest are weak as heck.

I think my chest in itself isn't that strong though, but it is my shoulders and arm that take the brunt of the stress when I'm doing push-ups.

I used to be able to do the splits in every direction. I doubt I can even get halfway down now

Hey, everybody. I'm a little late to the dance, but suffice it to say, I need to drop weight (again, *sigh*). Decided to rejoin WW and track my food with a vengeance. For some reason, doing this keeps me more accountable, and now that I'm working again, I can afford the three-month sign-up. Also, if I pay for it, I might actually be better about tracking. I gained about half the weight I lost initially, so I have about 25 pounds to lose. I have an added incentive of a hiking trip to Rocky Mountain National Park at the end of July to help keep me on the straight and narrow. I do NOT want to lug around an extra 25 pounds at 10,000 feet. Sooo, with that said, here are my January goals:

Work out at least 5 times a week, including strength training.
Drink 48 oz. of water a day
Track, track, track my food
Lose 7 pounds (may be unrealistic, but I'm shooting for it anyway)

I don't even know my bf%, would be interesting to see how much I could go down in weight.
Well, I walked for about 45 minutes on Tuesday and nearly five hours yesterday! But now I'm sick as a dog.
Five hours of walking is great, but not when you're walking in a sandy, dusty area with lots of wind. My asthma's been acting up all day, as have my sinuses. I tried to walk up the steps from the produce stand to my house (which admittedly is 66 steps) and I collapsed on the bed after, feeling like my chest was exploding. Sigh.

But at least I got some walking in. Hopefully I'll start to feel better tomorrow or Saturday and be able to get some more exercise. I was hoping to get going this month enough to consider starting P90x again in February, but I don't think that's going to happen. Maybe March.

Weight. Not. Dropping.

Bought bigger pants *sigh*

And Claire, your title made me giggle. Dirty...
first workout tomorrow after being sick, huzzah!
Good luck!

Is over 4000 feet considered high altitude? I'm currently at 4,321 (1,317m) above sea level, and I'm wondering if that's contributing to me feeling so out of breath.

Sorry about the pants.

Title? You mean 'turning Japanese'? 'Cause if so you have such a dirty mind! Haha.

I guess I needed a pair to wear during my period anyway. Even when I was a size 3, I was always uncomfortable during that time. My size 5 pair, that used to be too big... is now too small
Just tried them on. My goal is to fit into these at least.

What do you think that song was talking about?
