I started a blog soon after I decided to become a vegetarian to document my journey, and hopefully inspire others to learn more about a meatless diet. Last night one of my good friends from high school that I reconnected with on Facebook had been reading my blog, and announced to me that she is going to go vegetarian after reading about my journey!

She has struggled with her weight all of her life, and had gastric bypass surgery just over a year ago. So she's doing this for pure health and ethics reasons, not as a "fad" to try to lose weight. She said she tried going vegetarian before, but was uneducated about it and ended up gaining weight and becoming even more unhealthy. I gave her some books and websites to check out to get more information so she can do it the right way this time.

Nutrition, exercise, and health have been a passion of mine for several years, and I have wanted to do something to make a difference to get Americans healthier. Even though it is something as small as inspiring one person, it makes me feel good.

Well done. I had a similar thing a few weeks ago, with one of my facebook friends announcing that they were going vegetarian and asking me for advice on good veggie recipe sites. I'm not sure how much my posts werer responsible for their decision, but I'll happily take the credit. It's a great feeling!

Particular well done on the front that to inspire someone is proof of success in the 'holy grail' of leading by example.
