I think I posted a question about hair & being vegetarian a couple of months ago and voila - my hair is falling out again............... I have no idea what might have caused it, but I think it's either iron, protein or essential fatty acids... what am i going to do? is anyone else suffering from this as well? It's so unfair that some can live on veg*n diets and not lose a thing while some cant the hair loss isn't severe but I'm definitelt losing more that I used to.. it's seriously so depressing and I'm almost going crazy :'( i'm only 17 and i don't want my hair to fall out anymore.. does anyone have any suggestions? and yea, i don't want to see a doctor/derm since you'll have to take blood tests and that'll just make me faint

I think at this point you really should see a doctor. It could be a thyroid problem.

Go to the doctor.

If it's not a thyroid problem, there's a very good chance that it's caused by a *calorie* deficiency- are you eating enough? When I was getting over my ED, my hair fell out like crazy.

I'm pretty sure i'm getting enough calories, however, i'm quite athletic/active so there might be calorie deficits once in a while.. or maybe by body just can't use the plant protein properly, im not sure. I don't think it's a thorioid prob, as I don't have any other symptoms. Do you know if a hormone imbalance/low estrogen can cause hir loss? i'm starting to wonder if that's the case

You can't get a diagnoses for this without a blood test. So you will faint, so what? Warn them so that they are prepared. You will wake up again, don't worry. Losing your hair like this without knowing why is much more serious than fainting under medical supervision.

Go to the doctor! Would you rather faint, or would you rather suffer serious long-term or permanent consequences from lack of proper diagnosis and treatment of your problem?
