I'm really confused on what I should I do: I am getting a guinea pig tomorrow and I really want to name him chowder (after the cartoon,) but the cartoon character is named after food so I guess I would subsequently be naming my animal after food which sort of bothers me since the point is FRIENDS not FOOD. ? What do you guys think?

One of my guinea pigs is called Doughnut because he has a sort of white stripe around his middle that resembles a doughnut shape. Another one is called Caramel because it looks like caramel has been drizzled on top of him. As people have said, the guinea pigs don't care, you can name them whatever you want. :)

Name your guinea pig anything that pleases you. I usually try to name my pets based on their appearance. For example I had a cat named skittles, (after the candy), because she was a tortie and her fur was all colors. My cat Cleo got her name because she looks very regal and acts like a princess.

So name him/her after food if you like, but, I think I would prefer a fruit, vegetable or candy.

How about a nice binary name, like 011000101 ?

My first dog is called Popsicle and my second dog is called Poptart, in honor of my first. Why did I name them this? Because it sounded cute and they were both named before I went vegan and still ate junk food all the time. Does "junk food" count as real food? LOL since I don't really eat popsicles and poptarts anymore....

oh and I once had another dog called Oreo. so yeah... I was definitely a junk food addict...haha

How about letting the animal choose his/her own name? My dogs are named, "Woof woof" and "Fart of great power".

I had an all-white zebra finch who I named Vanilla, after her color. She didn't seem to mind.

Yeah I have this vaguely uncomfortable feeling when I see cats named Cookie, or Pancake, but Cookie is also a human female name and pancakes can be vegan.

However, if someone names their companion animal "Bacon" or "KFC" that's not cute at all.
