Hello,<br><br>
I am 31 years old, complete vegetarian since 2002, no red meat since I was 9years old. I live in Alabama so it is hard to meet other vegetarians/vegans. I have two Master's Degrees: Counseling & Psychology, and a Master of Education in Physical Fitness Management. I took several health classes for the degree in physical fitness management, I did the research & now have proof that vegetarians/vegans are healthier than meateaters! I work as a youth counselor for troubled teenagers. I have two dogs, one is a 114 pound white collie. I have my shop on Vegbay.com under southernvegetarian.

Yes. The White Collie is 5 years old, Winnie the Pooch. Sheltie is 6 years old, Kosmo. Good luck with getting your Master's Degree in Psychology, it will be tough if you have to do an internship like I did (1 1/2 years!) It is worth it, when you get out of graduate school, and start counseling individuals, helping them with life issues!

What part of Bama are you in, north or south? I am in the middle. Some parts of northern Bama are more accepting of vegetarianism, unfortunately I don't live there! Yes, Alabama is conservative, along with the rest of the south. I understand how you feel, because I definitely don't fit in, not with me being a vegetarian, & animal lover. I have two neighbors who love to BBQ, and one likes to hunt. He knows how I feel about the issue, and that's it, we agree to disagree. On the issue of him grilling up dead animals almost every weekend, I just tell him all of the health problems that he can get from eating meat. When I first told him I was a vegetarian, he said "What's wrong with you." My response was "I want to stay healthy." In the South, a lot of people don't care about animal welfare, so I usually stick with health facts. Sometimes it is the only way to get through to them. Now, I let my feelings be known to family members, friends, and co-workers about my beliefs, and they accept me for who I am. Some do not, and I have learned not to worry about these individuals. If everything else fails, there is always VB!
