We're playing a new gig tonight and I'm just beside myself with nerves!

The place doesn't have a piano, so our piano player will be playing rhythm guitar. (It costs more to rent a keyboard than he will be making for the night!) He's a GREAT guitarist, but I'm just frazzled because we NORMALLY are a piano, guitar, bass and drums band ... not a two guitar, bass and drums band. Plus, our drummer, who has an excellent voice, is *just* starting to sing and so she's going to being singing for the first time tonight. I mean, her voice is REALLY good, but she's still learning the words to songs, etc. We have TWO scouts coming to hear us and I want to really impress them, but I'm so nervous!!! We *really* need to find a steady job (for a steady income!) and I want tonight to go well and so I'm just a bundle of nerves.

Anyway ...

...just thought I'd vent.

Hi there,

Just want to say good luck with your steadying nerves and your member layout (new and old) and all round composure both musically and tempermentally!...(as in nerve wise), and in your ability to make up for no piano, or bass guitar or drums, or whatever you NORMALLY have thats gets you through a performance in good synchronization and fine tuned accord!!!

Thanks you two!

We did okay. I'm not sure if the scouts showed or not. It looks like this place we played wants to hire us for the next couple of weeks ... just on Thursdays so far ... Hopefully that'll turn into something more either there or some place else! Our singer did awesome tonight. I was very proud of her. Also, the piano player did great on the guitar. We were well received!

*sprout* ... I play upright bass with a jazz ensemble. Actually, I played on a bass guitar for a long while and have just converted over to upright. It lends itself well to a jazz group. I'm planning on getting a new photo of our band (to include the new drummer/singer) and I'll post it for ya to see. Give me a few days.

Thanks again.

We've been trying to get a good recording (without paying studio fees) ... but so far, no dice. However, I was just talking with the piano player (who happens to be my dad) and we think we may have a solution. We definitely need to get something done ... it TRULY helps for getting gigs! Send or drop off a 15 minute tape with some song clips to give establishments and idea of what you're capable of and they're MUCH more likely to hire you.

So! I'm working on it all pretty heartily right now.
