It took this long because I couldn't pay half of the divorce costs, being semi-unemployed for two years - we've been broken up for 3 years. I wasn't asking for anything, he wasn't asking for anything, there was no house or kids.

So, I decided to wait until one of us really "really" wanted to get divorced. I have the patience of Job.

He has this nice little tart for a girlfriend and she pushed him to get the divorce. He paid the entire fees God, I love a jealous new girlfriend. They rock LOL

So, I'm single again.

Now, I get to tease my BF (who isn't divorced yet, whose will be a heck a lot more messier then mine) that I'm his mistress.

CONGRATS!!! I couldn't be happier for you!!! I remember when my divorce went through. I literally skipped out of the courthouse and down the sidewalk. Yes, I skipped! I felt like a giddy kid...free as a bird!!! I was waiting to cross the street, felt the breeze of the autumn day, held my arms straight out, kicked my head back, and too a long breath of fresh air! I could have flew around the block! It was wonderful. Don't you just love closure??

In Canada, you don't have to even go to court, if you can agree. So, I only saw my lawyer twice. First, to tell her to start it and second to sign everything. I finally got my papers in the mail today.

Thanks!

I'm not a woman to hold grudges. He could invite me to his wedding and I'd go and cheer him on. That's who I am.

I'm happy it's all over. The paperwork takes forever. He agreed to pay for it in Feb. The lawyer had to file the papers and have the judge to sign them. Then I had to sign the papers. Then the judge had to sign them. Then we had to wait through the waiting period, in case we change our minds about the divorce or the settlement (there wasn't one in our case). Finally - it came in the mail today.

I could have done it all for $125 CDN, but I did not feel like doing all the work for it - typing, filing, etc. I'd rather a lawyer do it. That way, I know it will be done right.

i think divorce is the ultimate, great , "out." it's not a filure. it's being realistic about the time allotted us on earth, and not wanting to use up that time in misery ince you have found out that marriage isn't working for you. at various times in history, and do this day in places around the world, divorce is not an option. my mother used to tell us, regarding a new job, "you can always leave after lunch," she may not have meant it literally, but she didn't want us to feel we had to stay anywhere or with anyone, if it wasn't right for us.

Haha I've actually done that! I sat there till 12 and hated every minute of it - this was before I had bills to pay mind you - and when lunch came I went out and didn't come back.
