If you woke up tomorrow and the whole population of the world was all the suddenly vegetarian, what do you think the coolest thing about it would be? (Assuming that there aren't former slaughterhouse animals running amok with no place to go, and all the people who used to work there had better jobs to go to.)

I think the coolest thing would be to not have to ponder over every little thing I buy to make sure it's "safe". Or maybe not being gawked at in the grocery store.

Anyone want to swap fantasies?

Hell ya! I totally agree with Borealis.

That and not having to put up with society's crap anymore.

i wouldnt have to deal with my friends' harassment, and i would definetly go on a dining out binge and revel in the fact that i dont have to ask seventy thousand questions. and be over joyed at not having to spend two hours in a supermarket trying to find something to eat.

In this world would there be veggie versions of animal by-product laden foods as commonly available as their omni counterparts? If that's the case, I'd go on a gelatin-free marshmallow roast... then go to the movies and buy gummy bears.

well for one people would not harrass me about my choice to be vegan anymore, and second I would FINALLY be able to just buy any shampoo, make-up, etc. that I want. I love vanilla, but couldn't find aynthing cheap with a vanilla scent that is vegan yet. Yeah, that brings me to my next point. "Special" foods wouldn't be in a "special" expensive section anymore but you can choose from 2 dollar bread and 1 dollar bread and it's all a question of money because it's vegan anyway. And you can finally afford to buy conditioner because you don't feel guilty for buying the 10 dollar vegan stuff.

I'm with you guys... No more perusing labels looking for animal by-products, no more annoying questions ("wait... so vegans don't eat ANY meat?? OR dairy?!"), and I would get to use my old shampoo again. It's worth it, of course, but still.

Oooh... I would go out to a fast food place for a veggie burger on a vegan bun with no-met-flavoring french fries, followed by a dairy-free milkshake. Yummm....

think of all the other benefits..

violent crimes would be no more.

hunger would dissappear.

we would all have free health care.

the possibilities are limitless.

just because if you say everyone is suddenly vegetarian then you are implying that everyone suddenly becomes intelligent and if everyone was suddenly brilliant there would be a LOT less problems in the world.

my plan is to build a giant "smart laser" on the moon and shoot the earth with it. i see that as the absolute quickest way to turn the world vegetarian.

Great thoughts and ideas guys !

I would love, if when dinnertime comes around, no one would take out the meat, the cheese and all that other crap (I live with my parents). Holidays and family reunions and EVERYTHING will be more enjoyable, with no dead animal as the center piece or main food. Eating out, oh my god that would become so easy and wonderful ! Imagine if no one would consider meat and their by-products food...all animals would be treated well (or alot better than now).

*dreaming* I wonder if our dreams will ever come true ?

If the whole world went vegetarian -that would be so cool! Dining at restaurants would be a snap. Eating would be a lot easier. Plus it would be fun to be able to have one big thing in common with everyone instead of always being the odd person out because I am a vegetarian. Grocery shopping would be quick because you wouldn't have to scrutinize every label before you bought the product.

I work in a grocery store and have to handle meat when I'm cashiering. Shrink wrapped red meat leaks blood. I get the blood on my hands and wonder how anyone could actually consider it food. It would be nice not to have to deal with that ever again.

Also, it would be cool when meeting new friends and prospective girlfriends if they were all vegetarian.

excellent point! I've always felt that world peace could be attained by proper nutrition. I truly believe that people who eat a healthy, balanced, non-violent diet become healthy, balanced, non-violent individuals. If everyone ate a peaceful diet, and had a spiritual relationship with their food, can you imagine what a beautiful place this would be?

Instead, we have carnivores who think that meat comes from the supermarket in leaky styrofoam containers...

wouldn't it be cool if the world became environmentally aware at the same time and styrofoam ceased to exist?

We would eliminate by far the largest part of overall pain and suffering that is inflicted on the planet today.

We would eliminate a particularly cruel form of slavery and torture, at its peak breathtaking in its dimensions and practices.

Hopefully, humans would learn that we are part of nature and not above it, just one species out of many, all sitting in the same boat (our planet).

I think those things would be all very cool.

For me, it would be so nice not to have to deal with all the harrasment I get at work, especially at work related social/eating functions. Here's a really good one for you: My company has anniversary parties for people at certain milestone anniversaries. At my 10 year party, the people setting it up, knowing full well that I was vegan, served regular cake and ice cream

They all stuffed their faces while I had nothing.

I wouldn't have to listen to my "friends" continually gripe at me, for one. That'd be the best part for me.
