Well, not going regularly is odd. Especially if your food/fiber intake hasn't changed. Make sure you're drinking enough water, and getting lots of fresh fruit/veggies. I ate a whole pineapple in like 12 hours. I was clean as a whistle after that.

im averaging 50g of fibre and drinking a lot of water, because id heard that iron tablets can have an effect like this.

but its not doing anything?! do i just eat even MORE fibre. coz as of today, i feel sort of strange. like im LITERALLY full, or something . its kinda gross. plus i don't feel like im running right?! i ALWAYS get up, eat breakfast, bathroom, etc etc and same thing just before dinner. its just always happened like that! ehehe

One does not have to have a BM twice a day to be o.k. Many people go twice a week and are just fine.

You are definately doing the right thing with the fiber intake and water.

Iron tablets are constipating however. Sometimes it just takes time for your body to get used to it. Every now and then you might need a mild laxative, or an herbal tea. An OTC med like Doculsate or Colace for a stool soften might help you temporarily. Just don't take laxatives often as your body becomes addicted to it.

Good luck.

Iron tablets are tough. Can you take one every other day for a week or so and build back up?

Hm. Depending on the reason you're taking them, I wouldn't just switch to every other day for the supplements. Iron tablets often do cause gastrointestinal distress, but if you're anemic, the iron's important. Eating lots of fiber will help, but you might also try taking the iron at night before you go to bed.

You really should not self perscribe Iron. It can become toxic. I personally think that if a person is eating a lot of fiber, that person will not be constipated. You mentioned pain. Real constipation can be very stressfull on your body. Hope you get over it.

A German advice: try to get fresh kraut. This still has active bacteria and induce heavy stools. Try at your organic store. Canned or otherwise preserved kraut will only work because of the fibre contents, which you already eat enough of.

Are you getting regular exercise? If so, then do as you are doing, with plenty of water, and if you are still not right after two weeks you should definately see your Doc. Good luck...
