I was at work yesterday and got a major headake( I have been getting them several times a day for several days) I went to the gas station next door for anything for the pain. They gave me Excvedrin migraine. I do not think I had ever taken ecedein before. Well about an hour later. My puples where dilated, I had a tremmor in my right hand(still a little), I fealt realy dizzy and eventuly I gould not make out a sentines without stuttering heavly. Woops, stupid I did not read the lable before I took 2. It said do not take if you have astma.(been astmaic since baby) So I was shaking, dizzy, crying and nasuas. They took my to the ER. Strangly I was treaged right away. Pressure, temp and trying to explain that this was NOT a overdose just a bad reaction to over the counter. I was admited. I talked to every one got so many tests. Still insisting that I had not taken any drugs. My arm finally calmeed down after 2 iv injections of an antiaxietiy ( I think). I was there for 3 hours and they came back telling me I was ok and they did not know what was wrong, but it was deffantly stress related. ( It is kinda funny beacuse I have been telling everyone that if I get 2 more inches of stress I would have a break down) I am going to my Dr today. Maybe I can get more info about what happend there. Sorry it was so long thanks for listining and sorry for spelling.

WOW, glad you turned out ok. While reading it, in my paranoid mind I thought you were having a seizure or stroke or heart attack for sure. Thankfully not though. What kind of job do you have, or where does all this stress you have come from?

Well I have no time to relax lately. I work part time, (at a very stressful fast food resturant.) go to school full time, and deal with money problems and hubbie stress at home. I do have a history of stressing out about everything. I still have a little shaking, dizziness and nausa today so, I am hoping my Dr will help out . Thanks for the concirned all.

Weird. Glad you got through it. I take Excedrine Migraine for all my tension headaches, and I never have a problem with it. I have severe allergies, but no asthma. Yet.

Time for you to squeeze in some meditation and yoga.

What you were describing sounds like my first few panic attacks. I didn't realize then that "panic" was anything other than "fear" which aren't at all related for me. My body rejects too much stress physically. I literally thought I was dieing the first few times. Had the tremor thing too. Thought I was having a seizure, etc etc. Ack. Not fun. The only thing worse is the fear of it happening again though

Glad you are okay!

Now, that I think about it I have had this type of thing in the past, just not so severe. So, did go to the Dr and after explaning to him what happened, talking, and being asked some genetral questions ( all of 10 minutes), I am on paxil. Ya, fun!(sarcasm much!) I am nervous beacuse I was on prozac when I was younger and felt dead. I went and read all the previous post about it also. I do not want to take this stuff! I need a hug!

It also sounds to me like you've had a bad physical reaction to the meds. The Excedrin label said not to take it if you've had problems with asthma which you've admitted to having. My belief is that whatever is in Excedrin reacted violently with you and with your asthma. The stress may have exasperated the reaction, but I don't think the reaction is caused by the stress. My feeling is that you would have prolly reacted this way if everthing in your life was stress-free and smooth sailing (IOW: you're prolly just one of those people that can't take Excedrin without reactions happening no matter what's going on in your life).

If I were you, I would get a second opinion about going on anti-depressants. The doc you went to sounds like one of those "fix it with meds" type that think "woman + stress = put her on anti's". I could be way off base, here but that's my .02 FWIW.

I think you should think twice about your decision to go on Paxil. You might have just had a bad reaction to the Excedrin- it does contain caffeine, and it probably set off your asthma, causing you to feel panicky. Before you jump the gun and being taking a serious antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication, see another physician or perhaps a therapist. I didn't have the greatest experience with psychiatric meds, and I don't think they should be taken as lightly as they are!! I hope everything works out well for you. If Paxil is the right decision for you, then I understand that, I just think 10 minutes of discussion does not merit taking Paxil.

Also, I want to tell you, despite what I said, don't go off your Paxil without telling your doctor and weaning off slowly. If you try to quit cold turkey, you will get sick.
