We all made the statement as a kid: When I grow up, I'm not going to do .... or say.... like my mom or dad does.

Here we are adults living our lives on our own .... and son of a*

drat I'm doing just the things I couldn't stand to see in my mother and swore I wouldn't do.

Name the habits your parent or guardian had that are somehow unconsciously ingrained into your being and you can't stop yourself from doing.

I'll start:

When my mom used to make pasta, she would dump the sauce into a small pot on the stove to heat it. Once the jar was empty or close to being empty .... she would fill it 1/4 of the way with tap water, put the lid back on, shake it to get all of the remaining sauce and then add this mixture to the sauce that is already in the pot.

I used to hate this, because it would make the sauce runny and watered-down. Well for the life of me, I can't break myself from doing it. It drives me nuts. I catch myself, laugh and continue to do it.

I believe there are special "spatulas" of sorts nowadays to get the remnants of your sauce, vegenaise, etc.. out of a jar. I really should buy one and see how sauce it supposed to taste.

I know I have more than this story to share, but I want to hear some of your tales too.
