according to studies in the next 50 years all the rainforest will be destroyed or almost all of it

and the human population is sky rocketing everywhere

people are starving and we cant even feed the 6 billion people in this world

well its gonna be pretty crazy when in 50 years we lose 40% of the air we breath which the rainforest provides and the world has way more people we cant possibly feed

everythings gonna be screwed up dammit

im not even sure if the world will exsist in 100 years from now

or

we really need to change to stop this hell from coming

go to these sites to help stop it by donating to things for free

its free cuz the advertising pays for it

http://www.saverainforest.net/

http://www.redjellyfish.com/

http://ecologyfund.com

http://www.freedonation.com/

thanks done my donating for today and bookmarked them all, hopefully i'll remember to donate every day from now on, and i'm passing them on to friends

if you read up on Mayan prophecies, they predicted that the world will end on december 22nd 2012

their other prophecies have come true.

BUT as a spiritual person and learner, i do believe we can change the future no matter how definate it seems sometimes. i also believe that everything happens for a reason. do you think maybe the other prophecies coming true happened so that we would take notice and try to stop the next prophecy from coming true? i think it's possible. and i also think it's possible to change it, there's still time, we're not necessarily screwed just yet.

I feel like the problem is.... 30% of people (in America i suppose) really just don't give a crap about the environment. They could care less how their T-bone steak gets to them or how much of an effect just their household trash has on the environment. It really is disheartening sometimes, but there is always education.

I think that of the remaining 70%, 65% would do something about helping the environment but just don't know enough about how to get started or what the TRUE price of buying an item is. Every dollar you spend supports SOMETHING. Most people don't remember that, myself included sometimes.

The government and society doesn't help that either. "more is better" "buy a new car to help the economy" nevermind that the more crap you have, the more crap will end up in a land fill and raw resources are used up. And never mind that fossil fuel cars are such a environmentally costly way of transportation. I actually was talking to someone about how "you know Dan, we won't have fossil fuel for transportation forever. It will run out." He actually said "Oh no, there will always be fuel for public transportation like busses and airplanes. We might have to switch to electric cars for personal use but there will always be gas for public transportation". He was dead serious and I about **** a brick. Where, pray-tell, is the government hiding this "special" gasoline?

Well now I'm getting all downhearted. I suppose we must "keep on keepin' on" and teach along the way.

The government is "hiding" this special gasoline in hydrogen technology and also in expensive hydrogen fuel cells. A completely renewable resource in which the only byproduct is water.

See

http://www.utcfuelcells.com/

Look for "How a fuel cell works" for the easiest explanation. The problem with using this technology in autos and homes is the large size ,and expensive materials to make one. They are currently used in many skyscrapers to keep them off the grid.

We also already have a gas electric hybrid automobile and if people buy them ,theyll make more.

As far as the rainforest 40% is a big end estimate. actually two thirds of the worlds oxygen is produced by the oceans algae. And I personally protect many lush and green timber forests. So the rainforest is not a problem in the survival sense just the aesthetic. You want more oxygen?? Quite mowing your damn yard.

I've been following fuel cell technology for a while now, even bought stock in a company called Plug Power which is in cahoots with GE. They're developing fuel cell technology to power homes and businesses. Neat stuff.

You know what's interesting? By the year 2050 I believe, the death rate will equal the birth rate. Apparently after that, the population will diminish slightly to a more manageable level. But the rise in the death rate will come from lack of water, famine, etc. ;_;

i also heard the population will eventualy stabalize because the birth rate per couple is like 1.5 or something

and its alot less then it used to be

but it better stabalize soon or else we will be in deep trouble

the population will only stablize if the birth rate is equal to the death rate, if that happens it does not matter how many children a couple has, as long as one person dies for each child born.

10 years isn't that long but look at how fast we've been changing. look at all that's happened in the LAST 10 years and then tell me you don't think it's at all possible that we just might destroy ourselves in the next 10

we have to do something soon or we will not be able to repair the damage that's being done. personally i don't care to wait until 2050 for the rates to balance, i'd like to see change now. we have the power

not everyone has to go veg. they can do something as small as recycling something every day, or cutting back on waste by buying less prepackaged items, or saving on water and electricity

here's a thought. do you think it may help if everyone went veg*n for one day a week, or one week a month? would it be enough to make an impact?

not that we'd ever get anyone to agree to go along with it. just a thought i had. if everyone ate veg*n once a week, that's 48 days a year that they are not eating animals. that's pretty good if you add up the number of people who'd theoretically be doing it.

Well this goes back to a theory of mine... I hear so many people say "I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything". I think they set their sights too high.

First, the only person you have control over is yourself. By doing what you can you're doing your part. You are not going to make everyone feel the way that you do. Feeling guilt or anger over things that are beyond your control is rarely constructive.

Second, even the smallest impact you have on others makes a difference. For instance, a friend of mine always orders vegetarian meals when we go out, I've never brought it up but I know she does it out of respect for my beliefs. So I see that one meal as making a difference, that's one meal when she's not eating meat.

If everyone learned to recognize the subtle influences we have on others and used that in a positive manner I think we'd all feel better about what we're doing and would get a lot more accomplished. I guess my point is, it is better to have a small/brief/positive impact on someone then to have no impact at all, or even worse, alienate them.

oh i totally agree. it was just one of those whatif thoughts.

i know that every little thing we do has an impact. the ripple affect and all that.
