Pardon my excitement, but a small vegan chocolate bar, even if accidentally vegan, costs $3-$5.

I was in a Rite Aid pharmacy today. I normally don't shop there, but I had a need. Anyway, I always check junk food because sometimes a vegan gets lucky. I struck gold!

In the candy section, they carry a chocolate bar brand. I only checked the regular dark chocolate. It's vegan! Price... It's only a dollar!!! ONE DOLLAR!!! $1 $1 $1 $1 $1

Its a large heavy chocolate bar.
On the front, at the top, it says: "Sweet Obsession" "Fine European Chocolate" "Simply the finest chocolates on Earth!"

On the back, there's a statement "Imported Exclusively by: Global Brands LLC Scottsdale, AZ 85260. www.globalbrandsllc.com" "Product of Poland"

Ingredients:
Sugar, cocoa mass, vegetable fat, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, emulsifiers (soy lecithin, polyglycerol, polyricinoleic acid), artificial flavor, cocoa solids min 40%.

Allergy Information Contains: Soy

Manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts/nuts.

May contain traces of peanuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, wheat, milk, and eggs.

Yay! That's great! I'll have to look for it next time I'm at my local drug store. I love dark chocolate. <3

I gave up trying to find vegan chocolate in this little ghost town I moved to. In despair I remembered the baking aisle in the grocery store, and checked the semi-sweet baking chocolate. Cheap and vegan.

Shame it's dark...dark is too rich for me.

It actually reminds me of Chocolate Easter Bunny chocolate... Not like other dark chocolate bars.

The texture is very creamy! It's so fatty and sugary, with only 40% cocoa, that it feels very creamy in your mouth. My house is 90F-95F, and it's WAY melted. I have to keep it in the fridge. I never had that problem with regular dark.

***I've never seen this brand at any other drugstore, and I REALLY look every time I go. I normally don't shop at Rite Aid...and I just saw this. Maybe its a brand that only RiteAid carries?

I was just in Rite Aid an hour ago! There's one right around the corner from me, but I have to talk my family into taking me. :p

Quote:

That sounds so good! I have a huge Easter Bunny I got before going vegan. I haven't finished it since I'm vegan now, so it's just been sitting in my kitchen in a box taunting me. I really need to get some similar chocolate to keep my mind off of it. :p By the way, is this the brand?

Cool.

Trader Joe's sells vegan chocolate for great prices too, plus the quality is great. I can get 3 mini bars for $1.50 or the larger ones for $1.99

This is off topic, but Walmart and Amazon are duking it out right now. Walmart is trying to get into the mail-order groceries market, and has free shipping or .97 cent shipping to your home. Amazon used to delay shipping for a week or two for free super saver shipping (they want you to pay for Amazon Prime), but now they ship it faster because Walmart's free shipping is same or next day processing.

I've bought a lot of items from both that have been discontinued, or that I can't find in my region. A few times I've ordered from Walmart.com, and got the item cheaper than I would have paid if I'd walked into the store and bought it directly!!!

Anyway, now is a good time to get into buying grocery items online now that there's this price and service war going on.

I bought mine from this seller on eBay for making my own vanilla extract. These beans are VERY high quality, and I was very pleased! http://cgi.ebay.com/One-Dozen-12-Gra...0#ht_500wt_940

I didn't care for Trader Joes dark chocolate, but I do like Aldis one, and they have a dark chocolate mint thats vegan. Can't remember the name now, but there's four bars in the package.

Went to Rite-Aid today on the chocolate quest. Failed to find the treasure. Maybe this is a regional Rite-Aid thing.
But I scored some vegan semi-sweet baking chunks from Big Lots for $2.50 that WFM sells for ~$5.

Thank you for the tip!

I did find marked down vegan chocolate for $1 at my supermarket last week which was close to it's expiration date, which I thought was my lucky day. I've always loved dark chocolate, much more satisfying than all the others.
