Greetings to all y'all fellow vegetarians. I unoffically became a lacto-ovo vegetarian a month or so ago mainly for health reasons.
Now, though, I've found real reasons. I feel ashamed of all the suffering I caused animals back when I was an omni. And I was a stupid omni, too. I would have smiled at the mention of "People Eating Tasty Animals," and I stupidly continued eating meat even after hearing so much about slaughterhouses just because I thought it tasted good. "
" is a real understatement.
I don't plan to stay lacto-ovo for long. I try not to eat eggs or dairy when convenient, and I want to phase them out entirely and become a vegan.
I'm lucky to live in a relatively vegetarian-friendly area of the States, but just like everywhere else, pertaining to veganism will require constant vigilance.
My friends and family are more or less supportive despite their omnivoracity. My parents continue to eat meat simply because they either don't like or are afraid of meat substitutes, but my sister's followed my lead and joined the veg side. I think she has a bit of an eating disorder, though.
Well, about me... I'm a high school sophomore, a cross-country runner, the smartest guy in my science, math, and English classes... and too shy to ask a girl out. I guess Tourette's Syndrome was a bad influence on my social development (but thankfully that little problem's gone into remission...).
Well, I really don't know what else to say about me... happy veg*nism!
Oh, I forgot, the singer of my favorite band is a vegetarian too! Props to anyone who can guess the band!
