...so I could run business software not available on my Mac. I picked up a Dell with a 17 inch flat screen for less than 500 bucks. Pretty cheap considering I paid over $6000 for my Mac I hasn't crashed yet, but I also haven't taxed it very much. I will keep it very clean so I don't get any "software" conflicts.

Anyway, my office makes me look way more important than I actually am.

It might benefit from a dose of the Dell De-Crapifier if you haven't already taken out the garbage.

http://www.yorkspace.com/dell-de-crapifier/

Thanks Sorrow,

I might just have to do that. I am getting crap popping up everyday. If you buy a computer, you shouldn't have to put up with all the advertising that comes with it.

I am more like a double agent now. I still have my Quad and my iBook And those are my main computers. The PC is just for work.

When they come out with a desktop mac with the Intel chip, I will run a dual boot so I can run windows for work, and OS X for creative stuff and still be able to use my 30 inch monitor

It has nothing to do with being a mac, it has to do with spending 6000 freaking dollars. What a waste of money. Of course a $6000 mac is going to outrun a $500 pc.

PC = personal computer

Unless you're a big company buying workstations or servers you bought a PC. I don't care if Apple sold it, Dell sold it, or you built it.

No you just brought a computer thats going to cause you a hell of a lot of stress and annoyance. Be unpredictable in it's many problems, probably die within a year, and be incredably ineffient.

To quickly retort to some of your points made above. Most macs can be pretty easily upgraded, the parts arent that expencive, who cares if you cant get them everywhere, you can get them. And just because theres more software doesnt mean it's better, if anything it's worse, quality over quanity my friend.

Yes i am a mac lover. I've had nothing but problems with PC's, they're evil well windows based ones are, and i refuse to use one as my primary computer. I dont care if macs are expencive. IMO they're worth every penny because they last and they work, you get what you pay for.

I however unfortuantly understand the OP's predicament. So OP you have my deepest sympathys that you had to buy a PC.

That's never been my experience. 5 or 10+ years ago it was pretty common to get errors or blue screens of death occassionally, but today you should never have to even reboot your computer let alone get any system halts.

I get the feeling you don't totally know what you're talking about. There is good quality hardware out there that is not provided by apple. You won't get it if you buy an emachine or dell though.

So you choose to enjoy the company that serves you nothing but proprietary software, is well know for consumer lock in, they don't play nice with others, champion DRM and other digital rights restrictions.

Yeah Apple is sooooo cool.

PC was popularized by Apple. However the common understood terminology is to call a windows machine a PC.

It has locked up about half a dozen times this weekend while trying to load software. OY!

There is a lot to be said for going to one place to get your hardware and software problems fixed. Not that I have had any that weren't the result of the nut in front of the keyboard.

The term PC predates both Apple's use of it and IBM's use of it. Apple would like to think there are two categories, Macs and PCs, but that is simply false. It is simply consistant advertising to make everything but an apple look generic.

The way apple defines PC is as ridiculous as saying a vegetarian can still eat fish.
