That's kind of hilarious, because that disturbed the crap out of me.

Edited to add: I literally feel like vomiting endlessly now, my stomach is all upset. Those were her pets! What the hell is wrong with people?

For sure. I mean the lady said a bunch of times that she felt bad and was clearly feeling uncomfortable and guilty, I don't know how she went through with it. I'm not capable of lying to myself that hard.

Those meat-eaters sure have it hard y'know.

If they don't eat their pets, they are hypocrites.

If they do eat their pets, they are sick and twisted.

That was incredibly sad. The idea that she had formed a relationship with these animals and built a certain amount of trust with them only to send them to their deaths is completely sickening. If the video was meant to win veg*ns back over to meat then they're way off.

If one is going to eat meat, better this way than factory farming. Go into it with eyes wide open with a full understanding of where meat comes from.

It is disturbing though (as it should be). I think there is a whole lotta people out there who if they knew the animals they were eating would either do more to make sure the animals lead a good life up to the point of slaughter or just outright give up meat. Right now, for most people, meat comes from the grocery store and that is all they want to know.

Like Forster said, I'll admit this is better than factory farming.

However it's still really unsettling. I don't understand how you can treat an animal like a pet and care for it like one, then have a total moment of detachment and smile as you watch them get their throats slit. If that were a dog, her reaction would have been different.

I also think it's strange that someone posted that on a vegan facebook page in an attempt to say it's okay. Those were three pigs. Three. That's noting compared to all of the pigs in factory farms - which is where most of the meat in our grocery isles comes from. It's very difficult to find meat that was 100% for sure from a farm like that. You can't just smile while you eat your bacon and think "Well, according to that video, there's a small chance this pig lived a happy life. I'm sure it's fine."

Oh, I know this is better than factory farming, but that just makes it the lesser of two evils. I still don't think that videos like this will encourage people who are already veg*n to go back to eating meat. Most of the people who would be won over by this are people who do eat factory farmed meat and want something that rests lighter on their conscience.

Ever been involved or know anyone who was involved with 4H?

These young kids raise their cows, sheep, pigs basically as pets... they get attached to them. But in the end the animals get auctioned off and slaughtered. They end up weighing their negative emotions with the positive emotions about receiving money... money usually wins out.

Oh I agree, no way it would encourage people who are already veg*n to go back to eating meat, just the opposite as it confirms ones beliefs that killing animals for food is wrong no matter how one goes about it.

No, I've only vaguely heard of 4H and have never really been sure what it was all about.
That's awful, though. It sounds like the kids are learning to only value animals as a source of profit. :/ I wonder what else they could end up applying that to?

Not watching that. The comments on this thread is enough for me.

Well you only have to wait 30 more days to begin filling next years!
And I'm sure there will be plenty of stuff just waiting to help fill it.

I admit it is much better than a factory farm where their lives are miserable from start to finish but this still makes me sad. This would never convince me to go back to eating meat. I couldn't watch it all. I feel overloaded with man's cruelty and lack of compassion.

Still got my blue ribbons. It's easy to program the mind of a child, but when they break free, there's resentment...

Those of you who thought it was a good idea to have kids pay heed. This doesn't matter what the indoctrination is..if it fails, which it often does, they'll resent you for filling their heads with indoctrination. Even if it's "be nice to animals no matter what", a kid's first natural reaction is "why?" Don't you ever tell a child "because I said so." That's the easy way out and they will come to resent authority. Always be sure you know why when you tell someone something is the right thing because reasons not rules...well, you know the rest.
